Steampunk Alice in Wonderland

It's an alternate reality story where, in this parallel universe, Alice prefers to invent things rather than attend social gatherings. Alice says she was born with a great mind and she intends to use it to make the world better.

Lorina is the eldest daughter and goes along with the social gatherings. The mother is trying to put Lorina together with the Duke of Cheshire but he asks where Alice is. Her mother gets mad at Alice since she rejects the fancy balls and like. Alice is working on a clock that also tells the date, the temperature and it also has a compass. Her mother takes it and smashes it onto the floor.

Alice throws the broken clock into a pool and something odd starts to happen. She ends up getting transported to somewhere else where there's a castle nearby. She meets an odd creature there that runs away. (It's that reality's version of the White Rabbit.) She follows it down some kind of drainpipe.

She ends up where there are a lot of strange creatures, some of them mechanical in nature. There's a huge, way beyond fat, man (the caterpillar.) She says she wants to go home and he replies that it's the land of the Queen and she can't go home.

He wants her to kiss him or more. Bad mistake on his part. Then she runs into a guy that sniffs her. Then he turns into a monster. An old guy (the hatter) kills the monster. He explains what happened to the kingdom.

They work together and end up with a type of machine gun. A giant robot then attacks then and Alice tries to blow it up but they both end up captured by the Queen's soldiers. The Queen kills the Hatter but will keep Alice alive since she's an inventor.

We find out what happened to the King. Seems he's had enough and it's time for payback. She's going to stay but something happens that changes that.

It's actually a fairly decent story.
