Unleashed in Wonderland

This is combination of Alice in Wonderland and Wind in the Willows, two of my favorite books. I had my doubts about whether or not the concept would work but it did.

Badget is asked to try to try down Alice who has returned to Wonderland. Mole and and Rat will go with him and Toad will be left behind. Or at least that was the plan. Toad, being Toad, has his own way of doing things, though.

There is a breakdown of the socio-economic standing in the area, Toad being considered a 'landed gentry' at the top of the pyramid and the weasels, the 'degenerate lower class' being at the bottom.

There's a neat section of Toad going off on his own (with a boat instead of a car but with the same type of results). Then there's their adventures in Wonderland with the White Rabbit, Humpty Dumpty, the White Knight and others. There's also a very philosophical, zen-like section that is really good.

It's pretty much a unique approach to a story having to do with Alice in Wonderland and I enjoyed it.
