We quickly find out that Steady, the rather rude young guy, has failed a grade and is in the same grade as last year. Annette has to make a decision whether to eat with Jet, or with the popular group of girls.
Jet and Annette go to the malt shop, but that's still during the lunch hour. They were allowed off the school grounds at lunch? Also, Mike, of the malt shop, is a senior, so why isn't he in school? Then Annette and Jet are joined by several other girls from school. How long is their lunch period, anyway?
Laura brings the matter of the necklace up again and by basically accuses Annette of stealing it.
