Crystal City Lights

This is one of the very few books on the Crystal City internment camp. This was a camp that was not exclusively for Japanese Americans. Instead, they along with Germans and Italians were placed into this camp. The numbers of Germans and Italians that were internment was only a fraction of the persons of Japanese Ancestry. Many people believe, as do I, that this was more a matter of racism than anything else.

The process for the two groups was similar. The U.S. enters World War II and people who are felt to be 'dangerous' are arrested first and taken away. The others are forced to move to one of the camps where they kept under card. The camp at Crystal City was not very different from the others although it was more family-centered.
