Dust of Eden

The main character of this story is Mina Tagawa who is 13. She starts off living in Seattle and then with the 'evacuation' is moved to the Minidoka camp in Idaho. The term used in the book is 'concentration camp.' Various books, both fact and fiction, use different terms such as internment camp and there's still an argument going on about what precise term to use in naming the camps that the persons of Japanese ancestry were sent to during World War II.

Her father is put into prison as many Japanese ancestry males were placed at the start of the evacuation movement. She ends up going to Camp Harmony at the Pullyup Assembly Center first before being moved on to Manzanar.

There's the typical story about the breakup of the family, the infamous questionnaire and other things about the interment as such. The book is similar to many others written about this subject from the viewpoint of a young person. It's good but not outstanding.
