Der Fuehrer's Face

The cartoon won an award for best animated short subject for 1943.

I will quote some of the lines from the cartoon, but not all of them. Further, the video was not in good shape at all, so the captures will tend to be blurry. I've done the best I could.

”In the Fuehrer's face, we is the master race. Sieg Heil, heil, right in the Fuehrer's face.”

”Not to love der Fuehrer is the great disgrace, so we heil, heil, right in the Fuehrer's face.”

”When Herr Goebbel's says 'we own the world and space” , we heil, heil, right in Herr Goebbel's face.”

”When Herr Goering says 'they'll never bomb this place” we heil, heil, right in Herr Goering's face.”

”Is we not the super men?”

”We bring the world new order.”

At one point a starving Donald sprays a perfume essence of bacon and eggs in his mouth. He cuts off a piece of bread as hard as a board. Later a rifle and bayonet enter the frame and Mein Kampf is put in front of him with the soldier saying “Here, improve the mind.”

This section of the cartoon has someone saying basically welcome, workers of Naziland. It's a privilege to work 48 hours per day for the Fuherer. Then Donald takes his place in the factory. Even the factory whistle says “Heil, Hitler!”

Donald's job involves working with various sizes of shells. One funny scene is where there are framed photos of Hitler by some of the shells and Donald has to go Heil, Hitler to each photo and fix the shell at the same time.

“Now, through the kindness of der Fuehrer comes the vacation with pay.” A large wall hanging is then displayed behind Donald.

Horns appear out of the walls telling Donald to work faster, saying this over and over, till he starts to go nuts.

A series of images like from a nightmare follow quickly.

Donald wakes up. He was having a nightmare.

He has a model of the Statue of Liberty and kisses it. “I'm glad to be a citizen of the United States of America.”
