Episode 3: Love Triangle

Yuka, the oldest daughter, comes down in the morning and finds her mother with cucumber slices all over her face. Machiko says that they are supposed to help her skin. We also learn that Nao has a crush on her science teacher but there's also a boy in her class that has a crush on her.

Kana, the middle daughter, decides to cut class and goes onto an area of grass with a "keep off the grass" sign on it. She finishes her soda and throws the can away. The can ends up hitting Tooru in the head accidentally. He comes over to her and they start talking, then arguing, then pushing each other. He accidentally touches her breast and she slaps him.

At the store where Yuka works a male admirer of hers offers her some concert tickets but she has to turn him down since she has somewhere else she has to be that night. Another girl working there sees the tickets and Yuka suggests that the other two should go to the concert together.

Back at the school Nao finishes her test. Class is dismissed and she approaches the teacher and asks if he will grade her test now. She also asks him that, if she gets the highest grade on the test, would he go out with her for a day and he declines.

Kana is eating her bento and she and Tenko are talking. Tenko says that she's pretty serious about Tooru.

At the store Yuka sees Satoshi, her dentist fiancée, and they go to lunch at a fancy restaurant. She says that she can't afford to eat at places like that and she usually buys bentos at work. She thinks that Satoshi might be jealous of her boss, Mr. Matsushima. Her boss appears and then leaves. Yuka and Satoshi get into an argument and she leaves.

At the home Machiko and Yumiko are talking. Yumiko says that the has a high school reunion coming up.

Kana is walking and runs into Koyangi. They talk and she tells him about her problem with Tenko and Tooru. She gets mad at him when he doesn't seem to ask the right questions and leaves.

The scene shifts to a restaurant where Yuka and her boss are having a dinner. He knows that she has a boyfriend.

At the home we learn that Yuka had told her mother that she was going to be working late and she didn't mention the dinner she was going to have with her boss. The phone rings and Satoshi is calling.

At the restaurant Yuka and her boss are talking about Satoshi where the other two workers from the store show up. The other girl hints that she has designs on Satoshi and Yuka acts jealous.

Tooru gets to his home and runs into Tenko and they have a short talk.

Yuka and the others are in a cab and the cab stops in front of her home. She and her boss get out and they make a promise to get together again, doing the "pinky promise" gesture. It's overseen by Machiko, though. Yuka tries to sneak into the house but her mother is there and reveals that she knows about the pinky promise between Yuka and her boss.

The next day Yumiko asks Machiko if she will go shopping with her, but it's really so that they can shop at the store Yuka works at and use her employee discount. They go to the store and Yumiko buys a lot of things and then leaves, saying she has an appointment at a beauty salon. Machiko then walks around and a salesgirl starts trying to get her to try on various outfits. Machiko ends up buying a whole bunch of outfits. Yuka's boss then runs into Machiko and he offers to carry her shopping bags. They are talking and he praises Yuka's work at the store.

At the middle school Nao is doing a drawing of her teacher. He passes back the tests and it turns out she had the second highest score. She gets made and walks out of the classroom.

The scene then moves to an arcade where Tenko and Kana are. Kana is playing a hockey game and ends up turning it over to Tenko while she has a flashback to her kiss with Tooru. Tenko then leaves, saying she has a date with an older man. She basically plans to use him to get a free dinner but doesn't plan to have sex with him.

Machiko is walking and runs into Koyangi who she ends up getting to carry her shopping bags. He tells her about his conversation with Kana.

The guy Tenko went out with stops the car and she gets out. He follows her to the outside of the restaurant where Tooru works. The guy grabs Tenko and Tooru tries to intervene. The guy decks Tooru and leaves with Tenko helping Tooru into the restaurant. Kana has been secretly watching all of this.

We go back to the home for a dinner. Kana is still thinking about what she saw between Tooru and Tenko and she runs off to Tooru's restaurant. She's mad at him and Tooru accidentally spills something. The manager appears from the back room and yells at Tooru.

Back at the home Machiko realizes where Kana has gone and she and the other two daughters go to the restaurant. Kana has been drinking beer and sake and Machiko arrives. They get into an argument and Kana throws a drink into her mother's face and her mother retaliates by dumping sake on Kana. Things quickly go downhill from there and soon the entire restaurant is the scene of a wild fight. The manager appears again and yells at Tooru and says he is fired.

Back to the home where the manager has given Machiko an inventory of the damages that she is expected to pay for.

Back to the restaurant where Kana and Tooru are cleaning up the mess. The manager basically unfires Tooru and leaves. Later Kana and Tooru are walking and he tells her that he doesn't want to hurt either her or Tenko.

As is usual, they all end up in the ramen shop together. Kana and Tooru arrives and he gets to meet Kana's sisters for the first time. Machiko again then talks about things her husband said, starting with "a woman should be chaste."

She then says "it means-" and Yuka replies saying "to be devoted to one and not waver." Nao adds "to be pure of heart and mind" and all the girls respond together "to hold tight to one's honor and be modest."
