Episode 8: "A Steamy ‘I Love You'"

The shower breaks and the girls and their mother talk about going to a public bath. It turns out that there are some tickets to a hot springs, but they belong to Yumiko who comes over and wants them back. Yumiko checks the tickets and finds out that if ten people go, they can get half-price, so plans are made to go to the hot spring.

Kana tells Tooru she'd like him to come. Jun is stuck going with his and Nao's teacher to scout out sites for a class trip. Yuka and her boyfriend will come, and they and others all end up on a really nice bus (complete with a table with snacks) for the somewhat long trip to the hot springs.

We find out that Machiko's family did not want her to marry Masahiko, the man that became her husband.

They get to the hot springs and the hotel rooms are really nice; the girls have one room, the guys another, and Machiko and Yumiko are to share a third room. A little later Yumiko does a tea ceremony with Machiko, but it turns out they are doing it on a public display area. Before they can leave, Machiko hurts her back (a slipped disc), and she's going to have to remain there laying on her side.

Machiko tells Yumiko that it was "love at first sight" for her and Masahiko.

Yuka finds Matsushima is there; his family runs a souvenir shop at the hotel.

Most of them go on a ferry ride, with Yuka become seasick. She realizes she was conceived the night that Machiko and her husband spent at the hotel. Later different people go to a shrine, Tooru praying that he get into the U.S. National Hockey League. Tooru gets sidetracked by a fortune teller who Kana gets mad at, but them Kana gets the fortune teller to go along with her on a plan she has for Yuka.

Maruyama gets told that he must make a decision that night (between Yuka and all the other women he has around him), or that his loved one will leave; Yuka gets told similar things.

A little later Jun and his teacher are in an outdoor bathing area, with the teacher spying on the women. Koji and Maruyama are also spying on them and the entire group ends up getting caught and pushed into the bath. Later that night Maruyama proposes to Yuka, who accepts.

Machiko gets Tooru to carry her to find the room that she and her husband stayed in, and Machiko talks about what happened. Her parents did not want them to get married and she and Masahiko ended up eloping (which contradicts something said in an earlier episode, that Machiko was pregnant before they got married, but maybe that was a translation problem), and that Yuka was conceived in that particular room.The fortune teller turns up at a karaoke singing session and later at the ramen shop.
