Hiromi's Hands

This is a really cute story consisting of text and artwork about a young Japanese-American girl whose father runs a sushi restaurant. The story tells about how he got interested in sushi and the type of rigorous training he had to undergo in order to become a sushi chef.

Hirmoi, the girl, also takes an interest in her father's work, starting out by going with him to the fish market and then when she's older starting to work in the restaurant. At the time, female sushi chefs were very rare, and she was basically blazing new ground.

It's a really neat book for younger readers.
