Internments

This is a pretty much unique book in the internment genre. Various sections take place at various times and they cover what is happening to different people. The major center characters are Emi, a Japanese-American college girl (at the opening of the story) and Gita, a girl from Poland.

Emi's portions deal with the internment of her family during World War II which is basically the same as other books on the subject. What makes this one different is that Gita's story is related to what went on in Nazi Germany prior to the war for Gita is a Jew and suffered considerably due to what was going on. She even had to spend time disguised as a student in a convent school.

Gita's story is especially horrible showing the almost unbelievable cruelty of the Nazis during the war. The stories of the two girls meld well together. This is definitely a book worth getting.
