Chuka Ryori

This term refers to "Chinese cooking." It is the most popular of foreign foods in Japan. A good example of this is in Yokahama's "Chinatown" which has over 150 restaurants in a half-square mile block. They restaurants range from the very fancy to the very basic.

Most of the Chinese restaurants feature a fairly basic menu of favorite dishes which include chahan (fried rice), yaki-soba (fried noodles), gyoza and shumai (meat dumplings) and ramen.

Gyoza are crescent-shaped fried dumpings of pork meat served with a spicy dipping sauce.
