Page 2: The administration says that if people have gripes about something, they should put it in writing; a baby boy was born; the barber shop is open; a notary public will be appointed; the article on page 1 about the variety show continues; seeds for nappa and daikon are needed.

Page 3: A temporary judicial committee has been formed; June workers might get paid next week; the term Family has been defined in relation to the camps; the library got more books; there are 40 mess halls; drivers must observe the speed limit.

Page 4: 3 kitchens have been established for people with special needs; another community store is in operation; lost & found column; Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts meetings; photo exhibit deadline.

Page 5: 1800 sign up for school; council formed to help students relocate to other schools; acting project director makes social calls; laundry will open soon; principals will be selected for the schools; adult education courses in farming will be set up; Town Hall forum set up.

Page 6: Sports page with articles on track, baseball, and some recreation equipment has been donated.

Page 1: An interview with Dillon Myer; 9166 is the total number of colonists at the moment; a new project director; notify banks of changes of address; former California civil service workers are to meet.

Page 4: Diet stations for kids open; writers to form literary group; people from block 15 made a special dinner for their mess hall people; a draft paper for a person has arrived; some tools might be returned to former Walgerans; Red Cross training class opens; an article on one specific resident.

Page 5: Fire safety teams; colony forum topic chosen - 'Nisei Citizenship: how can we preserve it?'; another student has left to go to college; hospital staff picked; girls invited to join something called National Girl Reserves.

Page 1: The profits of the two community stores will be revealed to the public; 319 more residents have arrived; Joe Hayes named assistant chief; Nisei citizenship topic of colony forum.

Page 2: Editorial page including one on not hoarding lumber, one on canteen profits, and one on how things change over time.

Page 3: Two wedding receptions; Relative transfers; Walerga pay; music lessons being given, and a baby dies.

Page 4: Various camp officials are going to San Francisco for a conference; tonsorial services opened; ward 4 will elect recreation leaders; Bussei will organize; list of church services.

Page 5: Welfare aid for colonists; furniture exhibit opens; the Tempo will be a monthly magazine for the camp; requests for things are to be made to the block managers; song fest tonight; knitting class Friday; articles about a dance band, the landscape, and the amount of barley that has been planted.

Volume 2 #9: July 15, 1942

Page 1: 3000 attended the forum on Nisei citizenship; the camp had its first successful surgery; the WRA regional attorney lauded the camp's spirit; the WRA will take a census of the center; Co-op stores will be started.

This is for people who wanted to return to Japan.

Page 3: The last of the people to be evacuated from the 'white zone' have arrived; the wage scale might change; two engagements have been announced; the Issei recreation staff has been reorganized; there is a strong demand for male workers for public-health crews; 355 kids are enrolled in nursery schools; 16 new block managers have been appointed; Keibi music club meets; acappella group meets.
