Japan in World Politics - 1917

The author considers it possible that Japan will go to war with the U.S. over the discrimination against Japanese immigrants.

He adds that going to war would not be a good idea for Japan.

A rather long list of “charges” against the Japanese immigrants.

The long list continues. One of the strangest is the one that says Japan was forming an alliance with the some Native Americans on the West Coast to attack us.

Some Americans who went to Japan didn't help things, either.

Even though immigration stopped, some people kept right on complaining.

Other states are considering bills prohibiting Japanese from owning land.

Politicians get behind the bills since the Japanese cannot vote and thus are no political threat to them, plus it helps them get brownie points with those against the Japanese.

Another union snubs Japanese workers.

One of the most absurd ideas possible; Japanese and Caucasian blood mixing will result in “racial degeneration.” Some of these anti-Japanese people would have made the KKK proud.
