Target Invisible: Radar assisted bombing of Japan

Early morning at a B-29 base in the Marianas.

The mission briefing.

They go six hours and are still over the ocean.

The bombs are aimed “by the miracle of radar.”

The film then explains how the radar works.

The radar operator compares the map he has with what he sees on the scope and is able to identify two small islands.

Having arrived over Tokyo, the radar operator isolates the specific image he's looking for.

They are almost over the target, the largish white patch on the scope.

“This is what the Jap sees.”

The guy talks about how everyone helped win the war, including those who bought bonds, and that scientists must continue working to make new inventions like radar.

People are urged to continue buying bonds and “invest in the peace today.”
