
The Rise of the Japanese Empire
This is from a series of DVDs entitled Crusade in the Pacific. In consists of 5 DVDs contained in a neat tin with a small booklet additional. The series has many scenes and speeches that I have not seen in any other series anywhere.
The film (which is very clear and includes footage I have not seen elsewhere) starts out talking about Japanese aggression following the pattern of aggressive countries. The film is in black and white.

Then it talks about Japanese had been taught their country was the center of the universe.

Hirohito ascends to the throne in 1926.

The Japanese program for aggression grows.

Then it talks about “bringing the 8 corners of the world under one roof.”

The Manchurian invasion.

Manchuko is established.

1933, Japan says it has no aggressive intentions and then walks out of the League of Nations.

April, 1941; a Japanese representative meets with Mussolini.
The film talks about the worsening relations between the U.S. and Japan, and the economic restrictions established by the U.S. against Japan.
Tojo.
The Japanese begin their attack on Pearl Harbor.
The attack itself begins.
Tojo announces Japan is at war with the U.S.
FDR makes his speech to Congress. Again, there's footage here I have not seen elsewhere. In addition, much of the footage leaves the sounds in and the words; most videos show the footage and talk over it.
American men sign up for the war. Look at the sign on the wall.
