Core

The Earth's core has stopped rotating, and within months the Earth will be destroyed. So a scientific team constructs a vessel in sections that can penetrate to the core of the Earth where they will set off explosive charges and get the core rotating again.

Things don't go well, of course, and some of the crew end up crushed to death as the modules they a re in get separated and crushed by the pressure near the center of the Earth. (The thing is, they are drilling a hole as they go along and some of this happens while sections are still in the hole. If there is a hole all around the section, then where is the pressure to crush it? The hole, by the way, extends all the way up to the Earth's surface.)

It's not the best film by far. Basically the excitement comes from the trip itself and seeing what goes wrong, but there is so much time taken up for that, that it sort of makes the film a little boring at times.
