Skinwalker Ranch: Encounters
The events in this book take place during the Bigelow time and before. The book goes into an explanation of the Navajo beliefs about what happens in order to end up with a skinwalker. It points out that to become one you have to kill a relative so it's obvious that this is not positive magic at all.
Skinewalkers can also change shape.
The book discusses the Shermans, the idea that digging in the ranch is not a good idea, crop circles on the ranch, UAPs, cattle mutilation and aliens in 1940's type clothing.
(One thing about Bigelow. Despite the length of time he and his group studied the ranch and without doubt obtained data on what was happening he has not released the information they obtained. This is not the scientific method. True science involves the sharing of data, not the hoarding of data.)
The book also discusses the Hitchhiked Effect which is when something from the ranch (and sometimes from sites that have a team investigating them) can follow the person or persons to their house where strange and sometimes frightening things can happen.
There's discussion of a 150 lb. creature that was seen with dinosaur-like spines on its back and a beaver-like tail. There might be a werewolf/Dogman type of thing there also. There's also discussion of black helicopters observing things and in at least one instance landing and telling others to get away.
There's references to a possible dire wolf which is a creature which has been extinct for at least 10,000 years. (This is seen in the television show where the size of a tooth-mark in a dead animals bone matched that of the size of the tooth from an actual dire wolf skull.)
Chaos magic is also discussed along with a guy creating a sacred space near the ranch but not doing it correctly which caused problems later. What happens is really weird and disgusting.
MIBs also appear, Homestead 3 seems to disappear and there's a discussion of what might be under the ranch. There's also a bibliography.
It's interesting to compare what is in this book with what has been found during the television series. A very interesting book.
