Mary Magdalene Revealed

The book starts out talking about the Gospel of Mary and brings up a very, very interesting point. There are only a few original copies in existence and they all are missing the same pages. One copy missing some pages is understandable but all the copies missing the same pages? It's obvious someone wanted certain pages removed for some reason.

The author notes two related gospels, the Gospel of Thomas and the Gospel of Philip.

There are supposedly certain powers that include darkness, enslavement to the physical body, ignorance, craving for death, etc. The author goes into each of these and explains them.

In relation to darkness the author talks about the belief that Mary Magdalene ended up in France. She also explains just what sin is. Then the author goes into how Mary Magdalene was undermined by male writers, undermining any teaching related to her and holding that women were not suitable for leadership roles.

This is shown quite easily by considering the books of the Bible. Not one single book that's in the 'official' Bible was written by a woman. Actually, when you look at the books that did not make it to 'official' status almost every one of them was also written by a man.

Some other points the book makes include:

Mary Magdalena was a companion to Jesus. She walked with him, seemed to understand what he was saying and was basically despised by Peter. That part is very clear in the Gospel of Mary.

One complicating factor is how many women were named Mary, There was Mary, the mother of Jesus, Mary Magdalena and Mary of Bethany to name just a few.

Mary Magdalena may have spent her last 30 years living in a cave in France.

Jesus was totally divine but at the same time totally human.

The whole thing about Mary Magdalene being a prostitute was made up totally. There is not one shred of proof that she was anything but a regular woman, possibly rich.

There's a lot more in the book. It's well written has raises a number of interesting points.
