Colors and Healing
"It's no secret that different colors produce different moods and effects..." A New Age magazine statement? No, a statement from "PC World", August, 1991, a computer magazine. Colors have Effects on people: both immediate psychological effects, and longer-term interior, spiritual effects.
Here is a rather lengthy description of some of the colors and their possible uses in healings. I have culled the information from a variety of sources. One problem in doing something like that, of course, is that the sources do not always agree with each other so I have chosen what I felt were the most creditable uses of the colors.
The colors themselves may come from crystals, lights of certain colors, or even the clothes one wears. You can also envision colors coming down from above (or from some other direction) and flooding into the individual you are working on.
A. Colors associated with the 7 chakras
1. RED: associated with the root or base chakra. The color can
be used to give strength and vigor to a person, and to
increase energy. It can stimulate the senses and
increase the personal vitality. Specifically, it is often
associated with blood problems, and can be used to treat
anemia, build hemoglobin, and stimulate the circulation of
the blood. It can also be used to treat constipation, and
improve a melancholy attitude.
Red should not be used on people with fevers, hypertension,
or those with inflammation problems since red adds energy. You don't need to add energy to those already over- energized states.
[Don't forget: you are probably not a medical doctor. Even
in the use of color healing you must be careful. If there
is any doubt in your mind of what to do, do nothing! Let
the person see a qualified medical practitioner.]
Associated crystals: jasper, red amber, red carnelian,
ruby, garnet, rose quartz, pink kunzite, pink tourmaline,
rhodochrosite. You will also find some coral, some marble,
and shells to be shades of red, and usable in healing.
The opposite color of red is green, and numerologically, the
associated number is one.
2. ORANGE: associated with the sacral chakra. Orange is associated with creativity, courage,
and stimulation. It can help remove repressions and
inhibitions, broaden the mind, and help paralysis of
an emotional nature. Specific diseases it can help
include bronchitis, gallstones, asthma, and epilepsy.
It can also help the respiratory system, the thyroid,
assist stomachaches, and increase sexual potency.
Associated crystals include rhodochorosite, orange carnelian,
peach carnelian, orange opals, orange amber, orange jade,
orange zircon, orange citrine, orange topaz, and again, some
shells.
The opposite color to orange is blue, and associated number is two.
3. YELLOW: Yellow is associated with the third, or navel
chakra. Yellow is considered a mental color and is
associated with intelligence, persuasion, and charm.
Specific diseases it can be used to treat include
diabetes, epilepsy, eczema, and rheumatism. It can
also be used to treat mental depression, to treat
concussions, and to treat joint areas.
Associated crystals include citrine, yellow jade, yellow
jasper, gold, yellow fluorite, yellow amber, tiger-eye,
peridot, and again some shells.
The opposite color is violet, and the number associated with
yellow is the number three.
4. Green: associated with the heart chakra. Green is a very
good color to use to relieve pain. It is associated with
feelings of harmony, charity, and hope. Specific diseases
it can be used on include heart conditions, sleeplessness,
asthma, back disorders, and malaria. It can also lower
blood pressure, and can serve as an antiseptic.
Associated crystals include malachite, green fluorite, green
quartz, turquoise, green tourmaline, peridot, and especially
bloodstone.
The opposite color is red, and the number four is its numerological significance.
I have found from my healing work that green and blue seem to
be the most useful two colors for specific problems, and white
for general healing.
5. BLUE: associated with the throat chakra. Blue is an excellent color to use for relaxation. It is associated with compassion, tranquility, wisdom, and security. Specific diseases it can be used on include measles, mumps, inflammations, headaches, shock, kidney stones, diarrhea, chicken pox, and gastro-intestinal problems.
Associated crystals include: blue topaz, amazonite, aquamarine, blue agate, blue fluorite, lapis lazuli,
turquoise, and celestite.
The opposite color is orange, and its number is five.
6. INDIGO: associated with the Third Eye chakra. Like blue it
is also a calming number, and is associated with balance
and ceremony. Specific diseases it is used to treat include
obsessions, psychosis, problems of the eyes, ears, nose,
and lungs, appendicitis, pneumonia, and tonsillitis. It also helps in relieving pain.
Associated crystals include lapis lazuli, sodalite, and blue forms of amber, tiger eye, alexandrite, and fluorite.
The opposite color is orange or yellow-orange, and six is
its associated number.
7. VIOLET: associated with the Crown Chakra. It has similar uses to blue and indigo, and is particularly helpful in
healing neurosis.
Associated crystals include amethyst, sapphire, and sugilite.
The opposite color is yellow, and seven is its number.
I have found that meditating while holding an amethyst chunk
is quite beneficial.
B. USING COLOR
As noted in an earlier chapter, you can use crystals with certain colors and place them on photographs. Another way to use color is to hold out your hand, palm up, and visually image that color coming down from above and filling your hand. Then take your hand and move it toward the area on the person that needs healing See that color move from your hand into the person's body. Do this until you basically feel you have done enough.
In healing, feeling is quite important. When I am working on someone and using color or some other form of healing, I just feel when it is time to quit, and I do. It will happen. Definitely.
C. WHEN HEALING IS NOT WANTED
In my own work with remote healing, I have run into the situation where a person was totally unwilling to accept help. I could sense the energies I had raised being shrugged off, since this person did not, at his core level, believe such things possible. The only alternative was for me to quit trying, as further effort would have been (a) futile and (b) basically trying to force healing down someone's throat. There indeed is an ethic to spiritual healing work which may be slightly different from "traditional" medicine's, but is just as important to the practitioner.
