Stargate SG-1

This is one of the best science fiction shows that has ever been on television, at least in my opinion. The stories are all interesting, then tend to build on events that have gone on before, there's lots of very subtle humor and the acting is top-notch.

Even with nine seasons the stories continue to be well done and they definitely do not get to be boring. There's always a freshness to the stories which is a major accomplishment in any long-running series.

This is the one book based on the series that I've read and it's good. It basically is about a mission to a planet which has set up a relationship with the Goa'uld; they provide volunteers every so often and the Goa'uld leave them along otherwise. SG-1 tries to get them to realize they are being used, but the "official" response is that the relationship they have works and they plan to keep it going that way.
