24. Robert to the Rescue

Aliens end up flying into their mothership.

Venus and Steve in his office, I assume.

The professor thinks he's discovered a new planet but it's really the alien's mothership.

The object, which the professor still thinks is a planet, causes a solar eclipse. (There is one very bad thing at this point in the episode. The professor is looking directly through his telescope at the sun, something which, in reality, would blind him instantly. In today's shows some kind of disclaimer would be given about not looking through the telescope at the sun directly, or there would be some kind of filters or something attached to the telescope, and explained as such, that would reduce the threat.

The XL-5 crew command module separates from the rest of the rocket and lands on the surface of the alien ship.

No helmets? No spacesuits? Huh?

They get pulled into the ship so they leave the XL-5 and go explore.

They confront the aliens who have already neutralized their weapons. The aliens plan to turn the earthlings into aliens like them.

The aliens plan to destroy Robert in their giant boiler. (Again, huh?)

Robert gets them to follow him back to the XL-5 compartment and he takes helps them escape from the alien mothership.

Their general memories will return but they won't remember anything that happened while they were inside the alien mothership.
The story itself is good. An alien species has its own mothership/planet that it uses to travel the galaxy and avoid potential threats. Earthlings find it, the aliens abduct them, earthlings escape but with memories erased of the event; fairly standard.
The only parts that don't make any sense is their exploring the exterior of the mothership without any helmets or any protective gear, and the aliens using some kind of giant boiler as a source of power. Somewhat low-tech, I think; a very primitive form of the Doomsday Weapon from Star Trek as far as how it uses material for energy. Still, a good episode especially for the times.
