The XL-5 is on a routine mission to deep space in order to resupply a space station. The spaceship is having control problems, though, and before they are able to get them sorted out things get worse with the crew losing all control of the ship.
The XL-5 speeds up and breaks the light barrier. The crew passes out from the effects of the flight and when they wake up the ship is in a totally unexplored part of the galaxy. Bad news increases, though, when they find out that their oxygen pills have been eaten by Venus' pet.
All of that makes sense. What doesn't is when they find out that the ship is in an area that has air and one large bird. They are able to pump air into their tanks, giving them enough oxygen to last during a return trip. Unfortunately, they realize they are out of fuel after reentering known space but Space City sends a rescue team and extra fuel to them.
It's a neat story, the only unbelievable part being the air pocket in space. Still, that one problem aside, it was a good episode.
