Nancy Drew and the Clue Crew:Double Take

In this book Deidre, a female punk-to-be, decides she and her two friends will set up a detective group to compete with Nancy's group. Deidre, of course, has no idea about how to do that properly and is quite willing to stretch the truth to make her group look better.

The mystery centers around a girl's hoodie which is from the fashion collection of her favorite star. Both groups start investigating with Deidre's group trying to mimic Nancy's group. Suspects include Antonio, who is in third grade and well on his way to becoming a thug, and Violet, a girl who wanted the hoodie for herself. There's even a ransom note written about the hoodie (much like notes are written in the more grown-up Nancy Drew books.)

It's a cute story with a type of ending that is being repeated a little too often in this series.
