The Whispering Statue

This is another books within the original 34 that were rewritten in such a matter that you have basically two totally separate books with only very minor similarities. In this case, each book has has a 'whispering statue' that plays an important role.

In the revised text version of the book, the story starts off with a house invasion by thugs. Mr. Drew gets followed and phone lines get cut. Bess gets kidnapped. There's a nasty bookstore owner that Nancy ends up working for. Ned turns out, and there's several boat races with some skullduggery involved.

The basic theme revolves around fake statues and other things, and cheating people out of money owed to them. There's some very nasty people in this story but, be assured, Nancy Drew will prevail in the end.
