The Old Willis Place
There's a young girl named Diana and her younger brother Georgie who seem to live outside a broken-down old house. They keep referring to lots of rules that they have to follow. A new caretaker moves in and brings his daughter and their dog with him.
Diana and Georgie take Lissa's bike and wreck it, then take a book and a teddy bear from Lissa's room.
She appears to Lissa, but something is wrong and Lissa is frightened and her dog chases Diana. Lissa and Diana eventually have face-to-face talk, but Georgie almost ruins everything.
The background history of Diana and Georgie is revealed, and its very tragic. They are also terrified of a ghost that is in the mansion, and Lissa ends up setting it free.
In the end, it's a story about admitting one's own faults and being willing to forgive others for things they have done. It's a very, very sad story, but in the end a pretty good one.
With one exception: it totally re-defines the concept of ghost, making a ghost capable of actually physically interacting with their environment and being seen by others, both touching them and being touched by them. In this sense, it's a very unusual use of a ghost theme.
