This is the start of an entire new series from Zenescope. The story opens in the world of Myst where a little girl goes into her building and finds her mother. The girl gets a special book out and her mother takes it from her.
After the girl lays down an evil demon attacks and takes the book and kills her mother. Regular people arrive shortly thereafter but the girl, who is a young Baba Yaga, blames them for not getting there in time to save her mother, and blames the evil being for killing her mother. She takes a tremendous amount of power into herself and vows vengeance.
Then a wealth of informative material follows. The Earth and the Four Realms is covered, with things updated by what has happened in previous Zenescope comics. There's a page on the classes of people including the Highborn, Purebloods and so forth. Then there are Bios of various characters, including the Dream Eater, Sela, Belinda, the Dark One, Samantha, the Piper, Baba Yaga, Callie Liddle, Violet Liddle, the Queen of Hearts and seven more.
After all this there's an official checklist for what issues of what titles will carry stories related to the Dream Eater saga.
The Dream Eater Saga #1
The issue starts to tie in a number of people who will involved in the saga. In Myst, Sela and the others have just survived the battle. Baba Yaga and Belinda also see a streaking object in the sky. Characters from Salem's Daughter and other series also see the object, or at least indicate they know that something is wrong.
Later, something appears on a street and takes on a human form after using an old man for a rough template. The man dies, but the form brings him back to life. Then odd things start to happen. Two evil people, who kill regular humans, are in turned killed by the Dream Eater. The ultimate evil being and his female helper make a run for it. From the Inferno comic, the devil gets Mercy to become involved.
So at the moment we have a character that is spooking both the good and the bad guys, but so far has not harmed any innocent people at all and has actually eliminated a couple of evil people.
Dream Eater Saga #2: The Piper
The first thing the story does is to do a brief review of the Piper's history. The Piper attacks more people but the Dream Eater stops him. We also see that the Dream Eater is not going to die easily. He defeats the Piper easily, but something grabs the Piper away before he can be killed.
For the second issue in a role the Dream Eater is going after evil people and helping good people. At the moment he's behaving more like a super-hero than a super-villain.
