Myths & Legends

Issue 1

A couple of guys out in a forest find a bear that has been torn apart by something. Then the story goes to a rehab facility and introduces the people there, Doctor Waters. Lydia Matthews is a patient who is antisocial and has an addiction. Brian Jacobs and Louis Mayway are alcoholics. Tanya Rosenburg is a sex addict. David Gonzales has an eating disorder. Andrea Watson cuts herself, and Eric Galapagos has catanoic schizophrenia. There's also a guy that works there that sells drugs.

Later, a woman arrives from another dimension/world. A couple of them are attacked by what looks like a werewolf.

Issue 2

The story continues about the people in the rehab clinic who have various problems, and the werewolf-like monster that attacks them. Last issue one guy died, but in this one the werewolf really gets going, and that doesn't count the girl who cuts herself multiple times. So far this is a standard werewolf-type story with nothing to really make it different than any other similar story.

It will be interesting to see how it proceeds. At the moment it's only distinguishing mark is the amount of gore it contains.

Issue 3

A news crew is out doing a report on a bad storm. A strange woman appears but is not seen by them. Meanwhile, back at the rehab clinic two bodies are discovered in the basement, and one of the scientists working there wants to keep the discovered covered up.

Later more of the patients are killed and the one patient remaining claims some monster did it.

Myths and Legends #4

This is a continuation of the story about the people in a building that are attacked by some kind of shape-shifter, probably a werewolf although it seems to be something more advanced than just that. The problem with the story after four issues is that there's nothing really that terribly interesting about the characters. This is just another werewolf story, one of many, and is not as interesting as their other series.

Myths and Legends #5

Three people are running away from a creature following them. Dr. Walters stays behind while the other two run off for help. The other people that died at the facility are now were-beasts and confront her. She gets help from wolves, but then someone else shows up and says she will have to choose sides soon, that other will be coming to use her.

A good story. It is interesting, though, when you compare comics from the Golden Age of Comics to the present day ones and find out how much the shift has been to much less text and more reliance on drawings. The older comics would have more text on them in two pages than a modern comic has entirely. People seem to prefer less text and more artwork now.

Myths and Legends #6

This is also the third part of the Dream Eater series.

Fortunately this issue explains some stuff about the Dream Eater. Apparently it's purpose is to protect humans and to destroy those who would abuse them such as beings like Baba Yaga. It will destroy both good and evil beings, though.

It would be nice to know more about it's origins, though, and why it protects humans.
