CountryMouse's Diary

Part 65

Rainbow swirly bar

Friday, September 1, 2006, 1:03am: At LAST we've turned the corner out of summer and into Autumn Dreams . Dreaming of the turning of the leaves and the cooler temperatures, of shorter days and crisp blue skies, of the crunch of leaves underfoot but also soft drizzly grey days. How I miss the now-unlawful scent of burning leaves...well, it wasn't so good if you had washing out on the line and the wind was coming from the direction of the fire to your laundry! Eek! But autumn is my favourite FAVOURITE time of year!

7:50am: I couldn't resist. I love autumn so much, so I added some more things to my Happy Fall! page.

Saturday, September 9, 2006, 6:07am: I *think* this might be the second-ever sig tag I've ever made. I made a much harder one several years ago, and I wasn't pleased with it. In fact, I don't even know where it is now. I did this one from a tutorial at The Way You Live. I had to find a very quick tutorial on how to make a watermark (because I had totally forgotten how to do that!), so I could add that too. I found that at Designs By Joy. So here is the first sig tag that I actually enjoyed making (I'm putting it in a frame here because it looks nicer on the page that way):

10:58pm: We just the sweetest, funniest, most heartwarming Japanese Christmas film! It's calledGhost Soup "Ghost Soup", and you just have to see it! You can buy it from YesAsia (although Bunnicula got hir copy off eBay). Well, maybe that is a Region 2 DVD from YesAsia, I am not sure. Anyway, probably eBay would be your best bet.

"Ghost Soup" is about a college student who moves during winter break, having to move into his new place earlier than expected. He arrives at his new apartment on Christmas Eve and has a lot of salespeople and annoying folks bothering him at his door while he's trying to unpack. Finally an odd couple, plus their three silent friends, show up and demand that they be allowed to put on the Christmas party they had already planned to have there when they thought the apartment would still be vacant. What ensues is funny, touching, and wonderful. I can't tell you any more because it would give too much away. But I know I'll want to start having this as a regular Christmas holiday film in our home from now on!

To Serve Them All My DaysWednesday, September 20, 2006, 1:42pm: Books and such: afterTo Serve Them All My Days finishing reading Turnabout, I quickly read Wizard at Work (cute, funny, with some elements of "fractured fairy tales" in it too) while I was waiting for the library copy of To Serve Them All My Days (click on the picture at left to see it larger) to come in. Bunnicula was able to order a used copy of it for me, so that should arrive sometime this week. So I am currently reading the library copy at the same time as B. and I are watching the mini-series (click on the picture at right to see it larger)  made from the book. This is the first time I've read the book; but this is the second time B. and I have watched the series. It was originally broadcast on PBS many many years ago. I remembered that we had enjoyed the series so much back then that I got a copy of it on DVD earlier this year. So we are being steeped in the world of Bamfylde School once again and enjoying it greatly.  :-)

Sunday, September 24, 2006, 6:47am:  Ooops, I'm a little late in wishing you all a:

Merry Mabon

I hope you're all enjoying the change of seasons (for you in the Southern Hemisphere, Springtime is here now!). I know *I* am! I LOVE Fall!! Be sure to see my Happy Fall! page.

We had some fierce storms Friday night/Saturday morning, though! Our power was out from 2:15am to about 4:05am early Saturday. I just didn't open the refrigerator at ALL during this time, and afterwards got rid of old/questionable foods. :-P  It was so amazingly quiet and dark all around the neighbourhood during the outage, as I drifted off to sleep. I awoke with the light on by my side of the bed shining in my eyes! I checked the stove clock and it was blinking 12:05am, so I knew the power had only been back on for five minutes. I turned off the battery-operated Coleman lantern in the kitchen, turned off a couple other lights, then went back to bed. Well, Mother Nature sure let us know about the turn of the seasons!  :-P  I was sorry to hear about more dangerous storms to the south of us, and the loss of life and property. My thoughts are with them....

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon - Blue Rescue TeamMonday, September 25, 2006, 3:07am:  I've completed Levels 3 and 4 at Malakye's PSP School! Here are some of my projects/results and my awards from these two levels. I am currently working on Level 5.

Cat'r and I are both playing Pokémon Mystery Dungeon - Blue Rescue Team for the Nintendo DS (click on the picture at left to see it MUCH larger). I just couldn't figure it out, and the manuals and hint books were making it worse/more confusing and complicated! Then Cat'r brought his game up this weekend and showed me what to do. Easy! And fun! But I went to a dungeon before I was ready (Mt. Steel, I think it is), to try to rescue a Diglet. I fainted. I asked Cat'r to bring his team in to rescue me, and he did. :-)  Now I'm working on leveling up some before I go back there again. Plus I'm gonna take lots of berries and such when I go again! Oh! I'm a Torchic and my partner is Squirtle. Cat'r is a Charmander and his partner is Chikorita. Neither of us chose the Red Rescue Team version of the game because that is for the GameBoy Advance platform, and we both really wanted to play it on the DS.

Thursday, September 28, 2006, 5:54am: All my Spirit Flowers and Blooming Baskets have reached maturity and bloomed fully! Go see! Now I need more.  :-P

4:58pm: Whoa, Bunnicula just told me about webring.com's plan to start charging for belonging to more than five webrings starting next year! So expect to see me getting out of a LOT of webrings in the very near future. Grrr!

6:56pm: All rightee then! I am now down from 60 (! ack! I didn't know I was in that many WebRing rings!) to just TWO. I am in many other webrings, but they are powered by RingSurf or Bravenet. And of course there is also The Rail, which is GREAT!

Saturday, September 30, 2006, 12:07pm: I wrote a new poem. Actually, I wrote two, but the other one won't be up until I make a Halloween page for this year. :-P   Here is the one. It's about Halloween/Samhain, but more about this time of year in general. It's called Darktime.
