Part 94
Monday, July 6, 2009, 11:09pm: Here is the usual disclaimer first. I don't write as much here in CountryMouse's Diary as I used to, but you can usually find me here: and here: So look for me in those places ^ if you don't see me here!
Okay, down to business! As I wrote earlier, I got an iPod Touch in May, and I've been loving it! I recently got the most wonderful application for it called You grow flowers, tend them, gather them, create bouquets, and send them off to friends (and enemies? whoever you want!) in email! I find this app very soothing to work with. There is lovely soft background music, and the flowers gently wave in the breeze. I have never gardened In Real Life, so I can only imagine that the peace one feels in working with plants and flowers must be like this. So here is a page/the beginning of a section devoted to pictures of the bouquets I've created so far in Flower Garden and sent out to various people. I'm going to be adding to this, I know! Tuesday, August 25, 2009, 12:39am: Long time, no write! Well, I do write everyday over on Twitter--come see me there! Or see every day's tweets in one batch at CountryMouse's Refuge. Look what's coming tomorrow/today!
I'm getting a Mahalo soprano ukulele!!! I know it's a very inexpensive
painted wood ukelele; but until I know if I really want to get into this, I
thought I'd better not spend too much up front. I'll be getting the ukulele,
the matching bag, an instructional DVD, a pitch pipe, and a felt pick. It's
coming from amazon.com--I can hardly wait! It'll be like Christmas in
August--woohoo! Click on each picture to see it
larger! Sunday, August
30, 2009, 12:58pm: Here are photos of my actual Mahalo
soprano ukulele that I took this morning. I put on Worth brown strings
yesterday--with help from Bunnicula. I've never put on strings on any
instrument that required the classical guitar knotting attachment--wow, not
easy! I also crocheted (chain-stitched) a little strap for it a couple
evenings ago. Fingers still sore and numb-ish, but I persevere. I want to
play and play well! Click on each picture to see it
larger!
Wednesday, September 2, 2009, 12:49pm: I have been bitten by the UAS bug--Ukulele Acquisition Syndrome. I getting a Makala MK-S Dolphin soprano ukulele in Sparkle/Pearl White! I can't wait! Click on each picture to see it larger!
Tuesday,
September 8, 2009, 3:37pm: My beautiful Makala MK-S Dolphin soprano ukulele
arrived and
sounds just wonderful! It was set up for me and had Aquila strings put on it. I haven't crocheted a
strap for it yet, but I'll do that with some Lily Sugar'n Cream white
cotton yarn. Here are photos. Click on each picture to see it
larger!
Saturday, October 24, 2009, 11:05am: I haven't been doing much knitting or crocheting lately, but I did manage to finish my Mango (Jeeves) scarf the other day, so I'll be able to wear it this autumn! Here it is, with matching hat. Thursday,
November 12, 2009, 3:52pm: I ordered
a Fluke
concert ukulele today! Because I was looking for a model they no longer
make, they searched around the warehouse for me to see if they still had any
tops from that line left. They found this "second" (not totally perfect) top
to make a uke from (click to see it larger):
It has a scratch on one area, but nothing structurally wrong with it. For a 20%-off ukulele, I can certainly deal with that! It's going to look better when it's finished, with a clear finish on it. I got to choose what wood I wanted for the neck: both the ladies there on the other end of the line at the company thought the walnut (instead of the maple) provided a nice contrast to the pink flowers. I also got to choose the colour of the padded gig bag that comes with it--I chose green. So they are going to build this just for me, and it will probably take a couple weeks to get to me. I can wait, but I'm excited! I will post photos when I get it; and it will be showing up in videos on YouTube. Uh, yes, I have a channel on YouTube: it's here, ctrymaus's Channel.
