Easter Memories
When we were
young we
searched for
eggs,
But not outdoors
on carefree
legs,
It was too cold
with damp and
dew
And so our
mother, e'er we
knew,
Hid coloured
eggs about the
house
Before anyone
stirred, even a
mouse!
We were given
our
baskets...before
or after?
It's hard to
remember so old
a matter!
I'll never
forget the
vinegar smell
Of fixative for
coloured shell,
But pretty eggs
were worth that
price
For happy were
the country
mice!
