Sailor Moon
Sailor Moon is a series dealing with a group of young teen age girls who turn out to be "sailor scouts." They compose most of what remains of a once great civilization on the moon, a civilization destroyed by Queen Beryl and her army.
Queen Beryl is trying to get enough power to release the Negaforce and destroy the known universe. Opposing her are the sailor scouts, Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Venus, Sailor Mars and Sailor Jupiter, a male known as Tuxedo Mask, a talking cat or two, and in later series other sailor scouts.
Complicating matters, though, is the fact that the first scout, Sailor Moon, is a young girl who doesn't really take anything seriously, cries at the drop of a hat, starts off most definitely not wanting to be Sailor Moon, and gets into an argument with Sailor Mars anytime the two come close to each other. Luna, the talking black cat, tries to keep peace between them, tries to get Sailor Moon to grow up and fulfill her destiny, and at the same time keeps in contact with someone to keep tabs on the evil Queen Beryl.
On Queen Beryl's end is a seemingly endless group of flunkies who are trying to get energy, get crystals with shadow warriors in them, and defeat and eliminate the sailor scouts. The first two male flunkies fail miserably, and the third one, a female (in the American version; actually a male in the Japanese version) has more success.
Some of the episodes are well done, particularly one in which Molly, a friend of Serena (Sailor Moon) falls in love with Neflite, one of the evil beings, and manages to touch what good there is inside him, only to have him die in her arms from an attack by other minions of Queen Beryl.
T There were 200 episodes done in a number of series (Sailor Moon, Sailor R, Sailor S, etc), so it's going to take some time to get them all.
Don't miss this series. You'll be missing out on an enjoyable experience if you do.
