Child of the Cursed

Review

There's a problem right off in the first couple of paragraphs of Chapter 1. There's a rainstorm and Ryoga sexually assaults Ranma-chan. However, it is raining. Ryoga should not be Ryoga; he should be P-chan. There's no reference made to Ryoga carrying his umbrella open, or dropping it, or anything. the way Genma behaves is disgusting, as usual, but Soun finally shows he has some strength to himself.

After that, though, the story goes along rather well, noting how Akane reacts in her usually violent manner, how Ranma tries to come to terms with what has happened to her, and how Ukyo feels about Ranma.

Nodoka becomes the loving mother, which is good. The end of chapter 7 is rather cute.

The only sort of odd development, and something which seems to have been thrown in but wasn't really necessary, was Kasumi and Nodoka having sex. Still, other than the one logic error and this other odd development the story is very good and I hope it continues.

Synopsis

Chapter 1

The story starts with a rainstorm and Ranma has changed into Ranma-chan. She comes across a drunk Ryoga. Ryoga then proceeds to rape Ranma-chan. She returns to the Tendos and uses extremely hot water but is unable to change back. Akane tries to comfort her.

A few weeks later Ranma-chan is throwing up in the bathroom. Akane takes her to Tofu who does a full exam and tells Ranma-chan that she's pregant (and he doesn't do abortions.)

Genma shows his usual idiocy when he hears about Ranma-chan's condition and disowns her. For once, though, Soun shows some backbone and tells Genma that he's the one who is behaving in a dishonorable manner. Sound then tells Ranma-chan she can stay there and be considered one of his daughters.

Chapter 2

Akane continues to be supportive. Ryoga shows up at the Tendos and Ranma-chan reacts very badly (as is to be expected.) Ranma-chan and Akane have an argument and Akane slaps Ranma-chan.

Ranma-chan decides to tell her mother the truth and she does.

Chapter 3

Kasumi is furious about Akane's action driving Ranma-chan away. Meanwhile Nodoka is totally supportive of Ranma-chan and totally furious with Genma. Soun ends up calling Ranma-chan's cell phone. Nodoka answers and says she hasn't seen Ranko which, although splitting hairs, is the truth.

Ranma-chan asks Nodoka if she is going to make her kill herself, and Nodoka says that's a foolish idea.

Nodoka is not willing to let Ranma-chan move back in with the Tendos, although they want her to.

Nodoka agrees to allow them to visit Ranma.

Chapter 4

Akane's visits with Ranma-chan have not been very fruitful. Ranma still is angry with Akane. Ranma is thinking Akane wants nothing to do with her.

Ryoga is still trying to deal with what he did, and that he was going to be a father. Ryoga finally manages to get Ranma alone and offers her a teddy bear but Ranma won't have any of it. Then Ryoga makes the mistake of grabbing her and soon realizes that he's utterly out-classed and that Ranma could have killed him any time she wanted.

Ranma thinks about talking to Ukyo.

Chapter 5

Ranma enters Ukyos' restaurant. Ranma tells her about what has happened, although she doesn't mention Ryoga. Ukyo tells her she needs to see a doctor to make sure the baby is healthy. Ukyo and Ranma end up going somewhere.

Akane and Kasumi show up at Nodoka's. Kasumi tells Nodoka her relationship with Dr. Tofu is not going to work out.

Ukyo and Ranma are out walking and Ukyo thinks someone is following them. It's Akane, and she's still worried about Ukyo taking Ranma from her. Ranma says she plans to stay a woman after the baby is born to help avoid causing the baby confusion by changing her gender all the time.

Ukyo kisses Ranma and she kisses her back.

Nodoka chastises Ranma gently for having gone out without first checking with her.

Chapter 6

Akane confronts Ukyo and gets angry at her. Ukyo tells off Akane.

School starts and Ranma returns. Kuno confronts her, says she's putting on weight, and Ranma's fist meets Kuno's face.

Akane is still feuding with Ukyo. When they are alone Akane tells Ranma she's in love with him, but Ranma says that it's not the kind of love she needs.

Then there's a portion where Kasumi comes on to Nodoka and Nodoka responds fully to her.

Akane and Ranma-chan end up seeing Kasumi and Nodoka having sex.

Chapter 7

Nodoka takes Ranma to a baby doctor. The woman doctor knows Tofu and he's filled her in about Ranma. The doctor hooks up a sonogram to Ranma so she can see her developing baby. The doctor says the baby might be a hermaphrodite, having the genitals of both sexes.

Kuno comes to Nabiki wanting to know about Ranma so she tells him Ranma is pregnant and has not revealed the name of the father.

Nodoka and Ranma have a really good talk. Shampoo then ends up hitting Nodoka with her bicycle (accidentally).

Akane, Ukyo and Nabiki get to Nodoka's, only to see Shampoo rubbing Ranma's feet and feeding her chocolates.

Nodoka says that apparently pregnant women are sacred in Shampoo's tribe.
