Oh, My Ranma 1/2

Review

This is another Ranma 1/2 x Oh, My Goddess crossover. It works wonderfully. The characters are veyr well done and true to form. The story is cute and, in spots, extremely moving. It has a lot of action, and it has a very satisfactory conclusion.

This is one of the best crossover stories I have read, and possibly the single best one.

Synopsis

Chapter 1

Skuld is working at debugging when something goes majorly wrong in Jusendo. Meanwhile, at Jusendo, Ranma is battling Saffron. Skuld, Urd and Belldandy all work to squash the bugs and they succeed, but not before some damage is done to the computer program.

Skuld and Urd work on fixing the program. They find it it involved a fight between a mortal and a god, and they assume the god one, not knowing that Ranma had defeated a god.

Corrupted data indicate Ranma is a female and a class 1, category 1 goddess. They change a couple things in 'her' file, giving her luck as an area of influence, Norns as an affiliation and staves as a weapon.

Akane and the others see Ranma-chan transformed.

Chapter 2

Ranma-chan takes a bath but doesn't change back to Ranma. She does change her clothes, though, from a fancy and beautiful outfit she got when she transformed into a goddess to her normal clothes. Ranma goes for a walk and some cold water dumped into the street actually misses her, and Nabiki finds some money.

Two lucky events.

On the other hand, someone or something is watching her. It's Mara and hellhouds. Urd, Skuld and Belldandy arrive at the fight scene. By that time Ranma-chan has defeated the hellhounds.

Urd, Skuld and Belldandy all go to the Tendos and have dinner, and it's then that they realize what went wrong with the data files.

Chapter 3

Belldandy listens as Ranma-chan talks about her background and then Skuld arrives. She tells Belldandy that she can't change Ranma-chan back to a mortal, at least not until all the proper paperwork is finished and Kami-sama approves.

Skuld apologizes profusely to Ranma-chan, but Ranma-chan tells her not to worry and gives her some lessons in how to properly use her mallet.

Akane gets angry at Ranma-chan, as usual, but both Skuld and Urd get mad at her right back.

Nabiki warns Akane that she's losing Ranma not only as a potential mate, but as a friend, period.

Belldandy tells Ranma she needs sleep to re-energize; Urd needs sake, and Skuld needs ice-cream. Ranma-chan apparently needs donuts.

Urd thinks of something and has to rush out to check on something.

Chapter 4

Urd is terribly upset. She tells Belldandy she had blessed Ranma when he was young since he needed help due to how bad his father was. Unfortunately, the blessing had led to Ranma's current fiancee problem.

Mara and her thugs attack Ranma-chan. It's a vicious battle but finally Urd and Belldandy arrive and turn the tide.

Chapter 5

Urd apologizes to Ranma-chan for her 'blessing' that she thinks led to so many troubles, but Ranma-chan tells her not to worry, that most of the things that happened would have happened anyway.

An answer comes from the heavenly bureaucracy, and the request for restoring Ranma to mortal statrus is turned down by most of the department heads. The other goddesses go to find out why and it turns out Saffron had made enemies, and Ranma's actions had made friends in heaven. Also, Ranma-chan had managed to get hold of a weapon from heaven's armory that she shouldn't have been able to do remotely, and a weapon that was very picky about who was allowed to wield it.

So, those upstairs want Ranma-chan to remain a goddess for a while and see what happens.

Chapter 6

Nabiki tells Akane that Ranma is starting to become more female internally and is in danger of losing his male self.

Ranma-chan goes to the cat-cafe and Shampoo is up to her games. The other goddess arrive and Cologne recognizes them as divinity. Things don't go well, and Urd has words with Cologne

.

Mousse attacks Ranma-chan but she easily handles him. The other goddess are somewhat concerned as Ranma-chan is changing even more, becoming more fully female and having a sharp edge to her.

Chapter 7

Ranma-chan talks to Belldandy and Urd and they tell her she will have to come to terms within herself to the fact that she has both a male and a female side to her nature.

Ranma-chan and Nabiki talk, and Ranma-chan tells her she thinks she can influence how 'random' events will play out, such as the flipping of a coin. Nabiki agrees to train Ranma-chan in things like statistics and probabilities.

Urd and Skuld get recalled to heaven for an investigation into what happened to Ranma-chan, and Ranma-chan decides on her own to join them. She materializes in a lake. A very strange and very beautiful event happens resulting in Ranma-chan getting her own angel.

Ranma-chan shows up at the hearing with her angel and the Phoenix sword. The judges drop all charges against Urd and Skuld, and tell Ranma-chan she has an appointment with Kami-sama the next day.

(This is a beautifully written and very, very moving chapter).

Chapter 8

Nabiki is going to train Ranma-chan in how to use her abilities to control pachinko balls, whose movements are totally random. Meanwhile Skuld sets up a defense system against demons for the dojo.

Ranma-chan learns how to use her abilities and predict and control possibilities, and she and Nabiki become close friends. Urd and Ranma-chan go to a small festival and talk. Ranma-chan says the first duty of a martial artist is to help those who can't defend themselves and Urd expands on that definition. She is helping humanity in general.

She also explains that She, Skuld and Belldandy are agents of Kami-sama, but Ranma-chan is one of His hands. Ranma-chan admits she's getting tired of all the fighting in her life. Ranma-chan and Akane have a talk.

Chapter 9

Ranma-chan trains Skuld some more. She's also training Akane. Later Belldandy takes Ranma-chan to her meeting with Kami-sama.

Hild, leader of Hell, wants Mara to bring her Urd.

Kami-sama explains to Ranma-chan that it was no accident that she ended up as a goddess. Mara kidnaps Skuld, meanwhile, in order to force Urd to go with her.

Ranma-chan feels what has happened to Urd and Skuld. She decides to go after them and accepts fully the position of goddess before doing so. Belldandy gets permission to go with her. Hild wants to trade Skuld for Ranma-chan.

Urd and Skuld escape. Their attacked by Hell's minions, but Ranma-chan and Belldandy arrive. Ranma-chan takes charge of the battle. They are joined in minutes by a group referred to as the Fist of God, while Ranma-chan represents the Hand of God.

Mara has a demon release a major blast against Ranma-chan, but she analyzes it considering probabilities and control and causes it to miss her and destroy a large portion of the hellish army. She and the others then escape hell.

Later there's a meeting at the dojo with Ranma-chan, Akane, all the family, the fiancees, the opponents, etc. Akane announces the engagement between her and Ranma is off. Ranma-chan then speaks. Akane will end up heir to the dojo and Ranma-chan will train her. Nabiki indicates her own interest in Ranma-chan.
