Time Never Did Change

Review

This is a story about how Ranma, locked in female form, started college. Her mental condition is not good and she turns people off very easily and cannot accept that she is a woman. This leads to various problems.

Then she meets Kentaro and they start having sort of a relationship. They also have some good talks, and she also talks to a particular coach. Ranma finally realizes she can either be cold to everyone and lonely for her whole life, or she can try to deal with what has happened to her, deal with being a woman, and deal with the possibility of having a relationship, including sex, with a man.

It's a good story.

The present: Ranma has been hit with something hot and is now in male form. Then Ranma changes back to female and goes to apply for housing at college. She then registers for her various classes. She's having lots of trouble with all the men around, many of them staring at her or at other women.

Backflash: Ranma then gets an assigned room and finds out she has a roommate, Maaya. She's not friendly at all towards the other girls. Then she gets a phone call from someone, maybe Kasumi?

The coach of one of her classes gets on her case, saying she has a major chip on her shoulder and should not be alienating others. He also says she's too suspicious.

Maaya has a talk with Ranma, saying Ranma is depressed all the time. Then she gets a phone call, I think from Nabiki, about how Ranma will sooner or later have to get a job of some kind to earn some money.

Ranma does by a couple of sweaters but is upset about having to buy things at a woman's clothing store.

In her room Maaya talks to Ranma about getting a different roommate, and Ranma getting a single room for herself. Ranma takes a shower and the story says she has black hair. Later she talks to the coach and he wants to know if she's willing to join the women's soccer team but Ranma's not. She doesn't want anyone looking at her legs and she doesn't want to wear the type of top the girls wear.

Ranma-chan talks to Maaya and her roommate, but it's made clear to her that she's still being too nasty to everyone and needs to get over herself.

Ranma then talks to the coach again and asks him to be her advisor. He tells her she can't settle all her problems by using physical violence.

Later she practices a kata in a room and a guy watches her. It's Kentaro, and he asks her to teach him some of her martial arts moves.

Ranma gets a message that Akane wants to meet with her. Akane tells Ranma that she has a boyfriend. She tells Akane to go away.

Later Ranma gets mad at herself for having gone to a party with Kentaro and getting drunk. Some time later Ranma gets tired of the girls in the dorm acting the way they do and goes to study with Kentaro. Kentaro tries to get her to understand that she can't keep going on the way she has been, turning everyone around her off; otherwise she'll end up totally alone forever.

Ranma gets a place to stay off-campus during break. She also gets a job for a month at a pizza parlor. A girl Ranma is sharing the hostel with kisses her and Ranma is repulsed by it.

Ranma finally buys a dress and realizes she could spend the rest of her life totally alone, and that might not be what she wants.

Ranma and Maaya have a talk and become friends.

Ranma decides to try out for the women's gymnastic team. The first coach she talked to talks to her and says her grades have dropped a bit. Ranma promises they will get better.

Ranma puts on the white dress she bought and meets Kentaro, basically saying she's willing to make a go of it with him. Within limits.

The present: Some years later Ranma meets Maaya and tells her she's married and has two children.
