Aussie 'Rock' Sold In 3 Europe Mkts.
Variety March 2, 1977
Peter Weir's "Picnic at Hanging Rock" has been sold in three more
European markets, producers Hal and Jim McElroy disclosed last week. Al
Bergman Pictures of Holland and Spain's Pineda acquired the rights in
their respective markets with a cash advance against a share of the
boxoffice, while Finniish distribs made a cash outright deal. Sales were
negotiated by Paris-based agent Jeanine Seawell.
The film has grossed more than any other Australian film to date,
claims the Australian Film Commission; latter was a major investor,
along with the South Australian Film Corp. and The Greater Union
Organization, a theater chain.
