City of Angels lyricist silences Sharon Gless and Tyne Daly

The duet between the former Cagney and Lacey--Sharon Gless and Tyne Daly--performed in February at STAGE (Southland Theater Artists Goodwill Event), a benefit for the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center, will not be included on a cast album and video that will raise more funds for the organization. According to Gless, the new lyrics that had been written for "You're Nothing Without Me" were not appreciated by lyricist David Zippel, who penned the original words to Cy Coleman's music for the Broadway hit City of Angels, and Zippel banned the song from the CD and video.
