CountryMouse's Diary

Part 82

Friday, February 1, 2008, 10:19pm: It's February already! Eep! Christmas is gone now.  :-(  I took down the decorations yesterday. You can leave them up all through January as long as they are down by Candlemas.    If they are still up then, it's bad luck!

Tonight we began watching a new (to us) Japanese drama called "Oyaji" ("Oh, Dad!" or "Stubborn Dad"). It's a cute, funny family comedy/drama. "He's the ultimate in cantankerous dads! Internist Kanzaki Kanichi, father of three, is a meddlesome know-it-all. He lectures not only his family and patients, but even strangers' children and young lovers kissing on the street. His kids are on the verge of rebellion, but fortunately their mother, Miyako, keeps them mollified."--KIKU-TV

I've been playing "Endless Ocean" a LOT! I completed a mission for Kat, and all I will say is that I saw some beautiful things! There is a LOT more to do in this game! I can't wait to go diving with my wonderful dolphin partners again!  :-)

Saturday, February 2, 2008, 9:46am: Happy Groundhog Day, Happy Candlemas, Happy Imbolc, everyone! Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow today, leading the groundhog to forecast six more weeks of winter. And since he is a fellow rodent, I certainly believe in what he has to say. ::grin:: Actually, his prediction is all right by me, as we have yet to have a really good snowstorm here in SW Ohio yet this winter!

Happy Groundhog Day Happy Candlemas

Tuesday, February 5, 2008, 12:46pm: W00t! Super Tuesday! Bunnicula and I are going to watch a lot of the political coverage on CNN and MSNBC today and tonight.

Before I forget: things that happened in "Endless Ocean" (I hope I'm not going to be spoiling things toooo much, but these were major events that I don't want to forget). I finished finding the whales and completed everything related to that. That was AWESOME! Yesterday I accidentally discovered the Pirate Ship and Ship's Rest. I went there during the day. It wasn't spooky so much as sad. Especially the other, non-naval wreck....No wait, I do have to say that I was getting a bit panicky when I started thinking I wasn't going to be able to find my way out of the wreck of an older ship! I've done more exploring of the Ancient Ruins. I think I'm going to try going there at night. Night diving for the Pirate Ship too. I wonder if that will scare me toooo much?!

Oh, and I had this client to take on a dive. He wanted more than anything to see an Oriental butterflyfish. So we went down into the Wild Channel. What did we see first? A whale!!! What can top *that*?!? But noooo, he wanted to see this see this silly little fish, even though there were beautiful dolphins playing nearby. We did eventually find his precious little fish, then got to end our dive with penguins swimming and feeding all around us! What a cool dive!

To see and hear more of what I've been doing in "Endless Ocean", please check out CountryMouse's Refuge! I've been doing a lot of voice + pic posts at Utterz, several of which are about EO. I have links to all that in CM's Refuge. Or you can always click the link above (which goes to my Utterz profile page) or click on the green widget on the Diary Index page here and see what's up!

Monday, February 11, 2008, 4:40am: I finished reading Firestorm about...a week ago? Anyway, I was planning on taking a little break and reading something outside Rachel Caine's Weather Warden series of books so that I wouldn't overindulge and perhaps get tired of the characters. But the end of Firestorm was SUCH a cliffhanger, I couldn't stop! Something happened near the end of the book that I just totally did not expect...and then another something I didn't expect. I just had to get right into the next book!

So now I am reading Thin Air. That's the last of the Weather Warden series until Gale Force (Book 7) comes out in August. Things are really different in this book. Things just really veered off course. Interesting!

Monday, February 18, 2008, 2:53pm: I finished reading Thin Air on Friday (I think itSpin was). It feels odd to be out of the Weather Warden world now. But we'll be back in August (see above). Meanwhile, I have just started reading Spin, a book highly recommended by the Cat'r. Here is his review. I am not that far into it, but already I am enthralled! This is definitely more hard science fiction than what I've been reading, but it's very very good!

In other news: Microsoft has stopped supporting FrontPage extensions, so our Internet service provider is also going to ditch them. That means I'll have to keep track of any and all changes I make, then upload/change all that manually with FileZilla. ::sigh:: Oh well!

Friday, February 29, 2008, 6:01am: Happy Leap Day! I am going to be blogging here today because today is a Blog 365 Day of Rest, and Kamen Lee doesn't want to see any posts coming through the MegaFeed. Mwahahaha! He won't, if I don't use CountryMouse's Refuge or Mouse Droppings today. ::grin:: But I don't WANT to rest! I am on a roll, blogging everyday, and I don't want to skip any days. :-)

I can't believe it! I ordered two paperback books and two audio books from amazon.com yesterday! Three out of four items are due to arrive here TODAY! Is that fast or what?!? Gotta love amazon.com!!

I am probably going to get back to bed and grab some more zzzz's. In a story in the Health section on MSNBC's site, there is an article about health problems due to not enough sleep. "The National Sleep Foundation recommends adults get seven to nine hours of sleep a night. Children ages 5 to 12 should get nine to 11 hours and those 11 to 17 need 8-1/2 to 9-1/2 hours." Eep! I need to get better at that! I have been hearing for years that you heal up better from infections and surgery and everything if you get more sleep. Not just REST, but actual sleep.

kthxbai. :-P  (do I look like a LOLmouse?! Don't answer that!)  :-D

8:26pm: One of the books we received today from amazon.com is The Audacity of Hope by Barack Obama - The Audacity of HopeBarack Obama. Well, we got both the paperback version and the audiobook version. Bunnicula and I started listening to the audiobook this evening. It is WONDERFUL! Barack Obama is a great writer and a very good reader. He has a wry, understated sense of humour and a deep love of this country. He understands how we got to where we are and (I'm sure we'll find out as we go along) has a good idea of how we can get ourselves beyond the fix we're in to a better place for ALL of us. I wish this book were required reading/listening for ALL political analysts, pundits, editorialists, and talk-show hosts. They do not "get" where Senator Obama is coming from. And that's because they don't "get" where the American people are coming from. They think they speak for us, but they don't. Senator Obama does. He really understands. We really truly need him as our next President.
