IMPORTANT: Please join me and millions of others in observing Earth Hour, Saturday, March 27th.

Here's how: "On Earth Hour hundreds of millions of people, organizations, corporations and governments around the world will come together to make a bold statement about their concern for climate change by doing something quite simple--turning off their lights for one hour. In the U.S. where we are already feeling the impacts of climate change, Earth Hour sends a clear message that Americans care about this issue and want to turn the lights out on dirty air, dangerous dependency on foreign oil and costly climate change impacts, and make the switch to cleaner air, a strong economic future and a more secure nation.

Participation is easy. By flipping off your lights on March 27th at 8:30 p.m. local time you will be making the switch to a cleaner, more secure nation and prosperous America."

Here's a good opportunity to get together with your family and friends by candlelight or lantern light, play some old-fashioned card or board games OR get out acoustic musical instruments, such as UKULELES, and JAM! Make it a party! But it's only going to be an hour-long party...unless you feel like giving the Earth a longer rest.    Visit the official website by clicking the graphic below:

Sunday, March 28, 2010, 12:42pm: So, how did you spend your Earth Hour? We played card games (Court of the Medici; then Up & Down the River) by lantern light. We also moon-gazed. There was a beautiful golden halo around the moon, presaging rain.

There have been some major changes in our family of Fuzzy Friends. Many went on a new adventure, decided upon on March 25th and enacted yesterday, March 27th. They went to a Society of Saint Vincent de Paul Thrift Store, the first stop on the way to new homes. The representative from the store that Bunnicula spoke with on the phone said that they never throw any stuffed animals away unless they are so badly battered as to be unsellable. Ours were not. We've always kept all our people in great condition. We also sorted accessories and bagged everything carefully. B. said that the store was nice and clean and bright, and he had a good feeling about it.

I've made changes to My Build-A-Bear Workshop Friends pages. I've added a couple people who were not there, but who have/had been here for a couple years (lazy me!). I also indicated which folks have gone off in search of new adventures. Go check it out!

I also need to do some major renovations to The Condominiums pages. I think some of the current photos will have to go into the history section. Many people went on the Grand Adventure yesterday.

Monday, March 29, 2010, 12:11pm: I've completed the renovations to The Condominiums and History of The Condominiums pages. There may still be some broken links back through CM's Diary or other places. Anyway, please go check out all the new photos of cute fuzzy friends!

Thursday, May 13, 2010, 3:10pm:  I've added new photos to Kent's page. They are all that I have, that I know of. If you knew him or have any other information you can give me, please let me know.

Wednesday, May 26, 2010, 1:53pm: Someone told me I should start embedding my videos from my YouTube channel here. I guess some of you who come here might not check out my CountryMouse's Refuge, where I *do* always post the new videos, so I guess I'll start doing that here also. Here are my two latest ones:

Thursday, May 27, 2010, 12:52am: A poem by a long-time friend of mine (information about the true author and the backstory below the video):

This poem about domestic violence was written by my dear friend Allen Dowdell and copyrighted September 1991. There is a version like this by Paulette Kelly, copyrighted 1992, but this is the original.

Here is the backstory: "A friend of mine was in an abusive marriage. In Sep of '91, I wrote the poem 'I got flowers' for/to her. Her husband was about six feet tall, she was 5' 2" and blind. She not only didn't know when the next incident would occur, she couldn't even see the blows coming when it did. I did not write the poem to win her, but to get her to find the strength to get out of that situation. She is now well alive and my wife." -- Allen "Two Trees" Dowdell

Allen passed away on January 31, 2009; but his website is still up, and you can visit it here.
