Building Bridges, Part 2

Synopsis

Ryouga continues to blame Ranma-chan for Akane's mental anguish and refers to Kentaro as a "boyfriend" which causes Ranma-chan to become even angrier.

Ranma-chan finally gets to the dojo and finds out there is a birthday party going on for Nabiki. Ranma-chan then has a talk with Akane. She again tells Ranma-chan that she cannot love her now that she is a girl. She suggests Ranma-chan find herself a boyfriend and reveals that she spied on her and Kentaro briefly.

Ranma-chan continues to refuse to recognize her own feelings for Kentaro. In anger she turns on Akane and slaps her. Akane tells her that Ranma never hit anyone in anger and tells Ranma-chan to get out of the house and out of her life.

There's a funny incident in which Ranma-chan manages to prove to the other girls in the dorm that she's not a lesbian, but it does involve her slapping Kentaro.

Review

Again, another psychological examination of what is going on in Ranma-chan's mind. She is still denying her feelings for Kentaro, denying that she is a girl and likely to stay that way and denying that her relationship with Akane is over.

It is disturbing, somewhat, to see how easily Ranma-chan at this time is turning to the use of violence on her friends. Akane slapping someone is to be expected, but Ranma-chan slapping someone is not normal, showing just how troubled she really is.

Probably the single biggest things that causes me to read his stories over and over is the incredible use of psychological insight in his stories. They delve much, much more into why someone acts the way they do, and the tremendous mental pain that they might be in and how they learn to deal with that pain on an everyday basis.
