Reflections, Parts 1-3

Review

When I first started reading the story I thought that it would be boring and over-the-top with its premise of two clones of Ranma from a magic mirror, but the story proved anything but boring, especially as it began to examine Ramna's view of his feminine side and just how low Genma will sink to further his own aims.

It's an extremely complicated story, without doubt the most complicated fanfic story I have ever read. The three major Ranma-centered characters are Ranma, Ranma-chan and Ranko, but they go through so many variations that, at times, it's very difficult to figure who is who. The story is 45 chapters long and, even after that length, no actual major permanent changes are made in character relationships except for some technical adoptions of people by other people.

It doesn't make it a bad story; it's the journey of the story itself that is interesting, but don't expect everything to be tied up neatly at the end. There is a sequel, and I'll also reviewing that.

I have the reviews for volume 4 and volume 5 separately.

Synopsis

Chapter 1

The story is based on the mirror clone concept, where Ranma or Ranma-chan looks in to a magical mirror and a clone of him or her enters this world, sometimes in exchange for the real Ranma or Ranma-chan, sometimes in addition to.

In this case there appears to be a Ranma walking on the fence and not changed by rainfall (a clone); a Ranma-chan is behind him and is the real Ranma-chan, and a Ranma-chan who is a clone and who is madly in love with the clone version of Ranma (and who is referred to as copy-chan.)

Chapter 2

Happosai goes after Copy-chan and she's quite willing to pose in the lingerie he brought for her, but Copy-kun tries to stop him. Nabiki takes pictures while Ranma-chan and Akane wrestle with a blanket.

Ranma-chan and Copy-kun manage to disable Happosai long enough for Ranma-chan to send him through a magic mirror into another reality. Akane and Ranma-chan then beat up Copy-kun when he mistakes Ranma-chan for Copy-chan and tries to get some quality time with her.

Ranma gets sucked into the mirror with Happosai inside already.

Chapter 3

Happosai has some water and douses Ranma, changing him into Ranma-chan. Meanwhile the two clones manage to get some time alone and try to make out, but everytime they do something seems to be pushing against each of them, as if both were the same poles on a magnet.

Ryoga gets into a fight with the clones and Akane becomes involved. She manages to get the magic mirror and frees Ranma-chan, whose clothes are in tatters, and Happosai. Meanwhile Ryoga changes to P-chan, but the clones don't have any idea of what actually happened to him. They think he ran away.

Copy-chan tricks Happosai back into the magic mirror.

Chapter 4

The two clones try to figure out how to handle their feelings for each other. Copy-kun goes to sleep holding Ranma-chan (she didn't know he was there; she was asleep), and when she wakes up she's is mad. Very, very, very mad.

Copy-kun defeats Genma, and Genma tells Ranma to fight his copy. Ranma is so made from being held as Ranma-chan that he defeats Copy-kun then, as Ranma-chan, fights Copy-chan.

Chapter 5

Ryoga and Copy-chan collide in the streets and then talk. Copy-chan and Ranma-chan had previously gotten into a major fight over the fact that Copy-kun slept with Ranma-chan (just slept; they didn't do anything.)

Ranma-chan, meanwhile, is furious with herself for actually liking being help by Copy-kun when he was sleeping.

She doesn't want to enjoy feeling like a girl.

Ranma-chan is taking a bath (before she gets into the furo part), when Copy-kun comes in and starts washing her back and tries to hold her, thinking that she is Copy-chan.

They start to fight and Ranma-chan ends up on her back, Copy-kun trying to hold her down (and avoid getting killed), when Genma and Soun walk in and the three sisters get a view of what appears to be happening.

Ranma later tells Copy-kun and Copy-chan that he will kill the both of them if anything like that ever happened again. (To be plain, both Copy-kun and Ranma-chan were naked, Copy-kun on top, both struggling, and both in almost perfect position for sexual intercourse. )

Chapter 6

Ranma and Copy-chan encounter Kuno. Before Ranma can beat him up, though, Copy-chan manages to kick him far away.

While Akane, Ranma and Ukyo are having an argument, the two clones sneak off and start to make out (with their clothes on, though.)

Chapter 7

This chapter mainly deals with a bet Nabiki had with the Kunos, and how she manages to get them to agree to a way bigger bet for some information of hers.

Chapter 8

Kuno and Kodachi talk to Ranma and then Ranma-chan (he got splashed with water in the meantime), and they both seem to realize that Ranma is not in love with Ranma-chan (that they are one and the same is too much for them to undertand), and Kuno says his feud with Ranma is over.

Kodachi adds that her feud with Ranma-chan is over.

Nabiki is the master-mind behind all of this as Kuno and Kodachi convince copy-chan and Copy-kun to date them instead of each other.

Chapter 9

The clones are having their dates with the Kunos and things are not going well. Kuno and Kodachi are both bragging about themselves, then Kuno tries to kiss Copy-chan but ends up kissing her breasts instead. Kodachi tackles Copy-kun when he tries to come to her aid.

The Kunos drug the clones and Kuno throws Copy-chan over his shoulder while Kodachi knocks out Copy-kun with a powder.

Unfortunately, the combination of drugs Kuno fed Copy-chan are too much and her heart stops just as Ryoga arrives.

Chapter 10

Copy-chan seems to awaken in another time and reality where the people are talking Mandarian and are planning to kill her. It turns out she's reliving the death of the girl who was drowned in the spring at Jusenkyo that Ranma fell into originally.

Ryoga does CPR on her and Ranma-chan responds to Ryoga as a lover would, under the influence of the drugs she had been given, just as Akane and Akari both arrive.

Later, when everyone is home, the two clones talk to Ranma and ask him why he is so opposed to them having sex and a rather decent and quite interesting discussion takes place.

Chapter 11

Ranma explains about the seppuku pledge to the clones. They have a hard time believing something that terrible was still hanging overh is head.

Copy-chan explains to Ranma that he really needs to be whatever gender he wants to be and be the kind of person he wants to be rather than always trying to please others, even if that means being a female and becoming a mother.

Later Copy-chan starts to make out with Ranma-chan, planning to continue when he changes into Ranma, but Shampoo arrives and Ranma-chan rushes out to see what is going on. Shampoo, meanwhile, has glomped onto Copy-kun, not knowing he's not actually Ranma.

Shampoo ends up jumping into the furo with a naked Copy-chan, thinking she is Ranma-chan, and the two end up kissing. Meanwhile, it seems that Genma's plan is to replace Ranma with Copy-kun, since he never changes gender, and basically to leave Ranma high and dry on his own.

Chapter 12

Genma is trying to force Copy-kun into being his son and marrying Akane. Cologne has arrived and is spying on them as are Ranma-chan and Copy-chan.

Cologne knows about the mirror and says something dangerous has happened.

Apparently it's possible that in the end Ranma and the clones could all die from the effects, or perhaps Ranma could live and be cured of his curse. Cologne is trying to figure out things from what she knows, but not everything about the mirror and its effects has been recorded. It's also possible if either of the copies die than Ranma would die.

Genma basically is willing to sacrifice Ranma/Ranma-chan's life to have Copy-kun become the new Ranma. He also adds that Nodoka always wanted a daughter.

Chapter 13

Ranma-chan says she will work with Cologne to see if they can find a way to stop the process that is threatening their lives. She will also be the one engaged to Akane, as Ranma, at least for the time being.

Ranma talks to Akane about the possibility of Copy-kun becoming Ranma, Copy-chan staying as Ranko, and Ranma possibly dying.

Cologne is trying to find out if Ranma is Fa Shen, an Amazonian heroine, reborn.

They go to the Mirror Mansion where Copy-chan jumps Ryoga again, whispering sweet nothings to him that later cause him to faint.

Chapter 14

Apparently Ryoga is falling in love with Copy-chan.

Cologne and a Shinto priest manage to exorcise the spirit from the mirror.

Chapter 15

After a rainstorm Ranma-chan and Copy-chan find they are thinking exactly alike. The two together decide to rename Copy-chan Ranko.

It seems the clones now have all of Ranma's memories, so there are essentially Copy-kun, who is now a male Ranma 100% of the time, a cursed Ranma, and Ranko.

Ranma-chan is on the verge of a mental breakdown, saying she/he has lost his identity both as a male and as a female since there is now a pure male form of Ranma and a pure female form of Ranma-chan.

It's possible that Akane may work on bringing Ryoga and Ranko together as a couple.

Chapter 16

Cologne is up-front with the three when she explains that she can give them only limited help since they are not actually members of her tribe. They decide to free Happosai from the mirror he was put into since his knowledge is pretty extensive also.

Ranko and Cologne are talking and Ranko ends up talking in Mandarin, talking about something in the past. Ranma-chan is able to understand Ranko and remembers the same events she does from the past.

Cologne is now sure that Ranma (original Ranma) was a reincarnation of Fa Shen from the past.

(At this point, Ranma, Ranma-chan and Ranko all have all of the original Ranma's memories. There is still a danger to them from all three existing at the same time and something called bleeding ki.)

The engagement has been shifted from the original Ranma to the new Ranma (who was originally Copy-kun.)

Chapter 17

Akane and Ryoga talk about his feelings for the original Copy-chan (who changed when she got all of Ranma's memories from the mirror in chapter 15, making her essentially a different person mentally.)

Akane also learns that Ryoga had feelings for Ranma-chan (when she was Ranma's female form before the events in chapter 15.)

Akane suggests Ryoga ask Ranko out on a date. Ranko is not sure of herself as a girl yet.

(The basic situation is that Ranma (formerly Copy-kun), Ranma-chan (formerly the original Ranma, and Ranko (formerly Copy-chan) all have the same memories now. This leaves the new Ranma being a male and totally happy with that; Ranma-chan still is half and half, and Ranko, although 100% female, would still have the original Ranma's problem of coming to terms with being female at all, much less than all of the time.)

The new Ranma talks with Ryoga and agrees with what Akane said about Ryoga trying to date Ranko. Ranma even agrees to be the one to talk with her and set things up.

Ranma-chan and Ranko have discussed what all the information about Fa Shen means, and how it complicates things even more than they already are.

Ranma-chan feels she has the best chance of being taken over by the Fa Shen personality of any of the three of them.

Chapter 18

Akane comes into the furo where Ranma-chan (now in male form) and Ranko are bathing. She gets mad but Ranko gets mad right back at her.

Ranma and Ranko talk about Ranko coming to terms with being a girl full time and she admits she doesn't want to become the Fa Shen personality. Unknown to her, Ranma-chan is considering that as her only way out of the emotional turmoil she herself is in.

Ranma then talks to Ranko about the idea of dating Ryoga and she reluctantly agrees.

Ranma-chan talks to Akane and breaks into tears when she admits that Ranko seems to now have accepted being female, leaving her unable to become a male full time or a female full time. She feels that everything about her identity is being taken away from her and that being Fa Shen may be her last available choice.

Cologne and Happosai have an idea they plan to try when the three Ranma forms get separated that night, with Ranko and Ryoga dating, Akane and Ranma dating somewhere else, and Ranma-chan left at the dojo.

Chapter 19

Akane is trying to figure out if, the previous night when Ranma-chan came to her room and broke down in tears, that revealed the true individual inside Ranma (original), or whether Ranma was becoming more and more a girl the longer she was in girl form.

Ukyo and Ranko have a talk and they don't get along well.

Nodoka shows up and finds out Akane and Ranma (new version) are going on a date, and Ranko and Ryoga are also going out on a date.

Shampoo is still interested in the original Ranma.

Chapter 20

Happosai glomps onto Ranma-chan's breasts and she produces an Akane-type mallet of proceeds to pound him into the pavement. Cologne is concerned that Ranma-chan is avoiding any decision to become fully female.

Ranma-chan admits she can't become Ranma since the two male Ranmas would fight constantly to prove who was the best.

Shampoo arrives and she and Ukyo get into a fight. While they fight Ranma-chan gets dizzy and then speaks in Mandarin to Shampoo, ordering her to stop fighting. The Fa Shen personality has taken over Ranma-chan totally.

Akane and Ranma try to start their date but decide to go to Dr. Tofu's first. As soon as they get there and Ranma-chan/Fa Shen sees Ranma, Fa Shen attacks.

Chapter 21

Going very slightly back, Fa Shen is examining Dr. Tofu's office as someone from her time would, marveling at the things like the lights and the water taps.

She manages to fry Happosai, and then submits to a brief examine by Dr. Tofu.

Fa Shen attacks Ranma but he evades her attack and then tries to talk to her. She still thinks he's her hated half-brother.

From the past.

Meanwhile Ranko and Ryoga are starting on their date with Nodoka along with them.

Chapter 22

Ryoga, Ranka and Nodoka are at the train station when Kuno arrives and tries to attack. Nodoka intervenes and easily defeats Kuno, cutting his clothing so that his pants are ready to fall down.

Nodoka also says she wishes Ranko were rerally her daughter.

In a discussion with Nodoka Ranko says she would like to be her daughter, but things have to be cleared up between Ranma and her (as far as the curse foes), and that, in the end, she may need to sacrifice her life for Ranma's.

Meanwhile at Dr. Tofu's Cologne tries to explain to Fa Shen what happened to her. Dr. Tofu changes Ranma-chan into boy-type Ranma, then again into Ranma-chan, and in neither case does Fa Shen appear.

Chapter 23

Ranma explains to Shampoo and Ukyo some of the things Ranma-chan is going through right now, especially in relation to trying to establish an identity for herself.

Kodachi tries to attack Akane when she and Ranma try to resume their date.

Mousse shows up at the clinic and says since Shampoo has failed to carry out the Kiss of Death against Ranma-chan, he has the right to do so.

This causes Ranma-chan to go into a trance where she and Fa Shen are basically fighting for control, possibly permanent control, of Ranma-chan's body.

Chapter 24

Ryoga prevents Ranko from being gropped by a salaryman. She gets mad, but then they talk and she understands.

Ranko may have some feelings for Ryoga after all, and he definitely has feelings for her.

Meanwhile Akane and Kodachi are still fighting. Akane manages to win, hitting Kodachi with her mallet and knocking the Kuno sibling out of sight.

At the Tendo dojo, Ranma-chan is still unconscious. Mousse is still trying to convince Shampoo that one of the forms of Ranma has to die, but Cologne gets upset with him.

Within Ranma-chan's mind, she and Fa Shen are fighting, first, then start talking. They manage to settle their differences and decide to try and find some way all four of them, now, can survive on their own.

Chapter 25

Akane things over her relationship with the original Ranma and sees that, at least at times, she was not treating him fairly. She thinks about the changes Ranma-chan made in her personality as she went from being part boy/part girl to fulltime girl, and how her macho nature seemed to vanish.

Akane and Ranma eat at a fancy restaurant and talk. They discuss their engagement and just exactly Ranma had not made any of the girls his specific choice.

Meanwhile Ryoga and Ranko are out on their date. Nodoka and Ranko go to the women's restroom where Nodoka educates her about the sex act and the need for the use of condoms (and she gives some to Ranko), thoroughly embarrassing Ranko and before long Ryoga. (It's a really cute conversation and rather funny)

Chapter 26

Upstairs at the dojo there's still a discussion going on about the amazon laws. It's revealed that Mousse has tried to kill Cologne. Meanwhile, Ranma-chan and Fa Shen have a long and quite complex talk about who is who and what makes them who they are.

Ranma and Akane are talking and Ranma comes to the understanding that Fa Shen is as real as Ranma-chan, and that Ranma-chan might sacrifice herself so that Fa Shen can have her life.

Ranko is realizing she is definitely female in her somewhat lustful feelings towards Ryoga. When Ranma first changed into Ranma-chan she did experiment with her body to the point of orgasm, and Genma intervened with his usual stupid advice.

Ranko admits she's in love with Ryoga. Ryoga explains to her how he felt Ranma was the only person to actually treat him decently, but he allowed himself to hate Ranma rather than face up to his own problems. Ranko ends up kissing him. Further, she is quite willing to have sex with him.

Chapter 27

Akane and Ranma are returning from their date and Ranma wants to kiss Akane but isn't sure if she's willing. They talk and end up kissing.

Ranma suggest a way to allow Fa Shen to have her own body.

Ryoga is totally in love with Ranko.

Nodoka and Ranko have a talk about what she should or should not do sexually with Ryoga. Nodoka gives her a vibrator so she has another alternative for her feelings.

Ranma-chan and Fa Shen are still in Ranma-chan's mind. She meets the neko-ken in her mind but isn't terrified. They end up at Jusenkyo and fish someone out of a pond, and that someone turns out to be Ranma (the original).

In the dream world they all end up jumping off a cliff they were led to by the cat, hoping to finally wake up.

Chapter 28

Nodoka and Ryoga talk and he says he would like to marry Ranko.

Ranko and Ryoga then talk and they decide that they both want to have sex right then. (Some of the dialogue from Ryoga seems a little unreal here.)

Ranma chan awakes, but Cologne finds out something that will place Ranma-chan in danger if she is splashed with hot water. Meanwhile, somehow, Fa Shen has been transferred into Ranma's body, and she's quite upset. Apparently the new Ranma was a projection of Ranma-chan's mind and, as such, not totally real, so Fa Shen took over the projection's body.

At the same time, another projection has moved into Ranko's body, and she is now Ranma. That Ranma, though, remembers very little after falling into the cursed spring. (The story gets really complicated. Apparently the Ranma that came out of the spring after falling in was not the same Ranma that fell it; it was sort of a projection form of Ranma.)

Anyhow, this Ranma/Ranko might be better disposed to being cursed and being male only part of the time.

Chapter 29

At the dojo a discussion is still going on. Fa Shen, who is female, is in a male Ranma body. Male-born Ranma is in Ranma-chan's body.

Ranko recites the Kiss of Death and it's purpose is actually to make an outsider woman more powerful and if, after a year, she is still alive and has not tried to kill the challenger, then she is given a Kiss of Sisterhood and invited into the tribe. If the person is an enemy or is without honor, though, then she can be killed.

(This is a very interesting expansion on the Kiss of Death and actually makes a lot of sense.)

Mousse talks to Fa Shen and says he is going to challenge Ranko to a fight. If he defeats her, then he could challenge Shampoo again.

Ranma is talking to Ryoga and says that she is willing to submit to her female side (at least at times), and is in love with Ryoga and wants to have sex again (when they can.)

(In other words, Ranma has come to terms with being both male and female.)

Ranma-chan is now being referred to as Ranko, and the girl that had been referred to as Ranko is now referred to as Ranneko, Ranko's twin sister. (This to keep Nodoka off balance about what is really going on.)

Chapter 30

Another discussion upstairs at the dojo and again Mousse shows up, this time openly challenging Ranko to fight when she's well enough.

(At this point it's very hard to figure which Ranma is which, and it's more complicated than that since some have been projections of others. The plan to go to China and use Jusenkyo is to allow Fa Shen and Ranma to get their curses, so Fa Shen can return to being a female, at least part of the time, and Ranma, who is currently female, to be cursed and be able to turn into a boy at least part of the time. )

Ryoga gets sick of Mousse and nearly strangles him to death.

Ryoga also wants Ranko to be his girlfriend and she is not reluctant, even though she doesn't apparently know about Ranma (in girl form) having sex with Ryoga as a Ranko projection.

And if that isn't complicated enough, I don't know what is.

Chapter 31

Cologne and Ranma have a discussion. It seems that if Ranma, currently stuck as a female, were to be defeated by Mousse or another Amazonian male, she would have to marry him.

After she leaves Mousse arrives and starts talking to Ranma, admitting he knows that Ranma and Ryouga have had sex, and that Ranma has broken Ryoga's heart.

Cologne has a bottle of magical water and Nodoka drinks it and her hair returns to a full red color. Later Cologne chastises Mousse since he had purposely changed labels on the bottle of water and it could have ended up killing Ranko.

Chapter 32

Fa Shen had stayed the night at Dr. Tofu's, and in the morning the doctor has a talk with Fa Shen about how she is adapting to her boy form, and some things she needs to know since she is currently in a male body. (The scene here is rather humorous.)

Then Fa Shen and Ranma-chan (Ranma) talk. It turns out the only way to heal Ranko is for the two of them to have sex. (Actually, Ranma-chan could have sex with Ryoga and that would work to.)

Back at the dojo, Cologne is explaining why Nodoka's hair turned red when she drank the potion. It seems years earlier she had been given something by Genma, maybe through Happosai, that would have guaranteed the birth of a son, but the child she carried should have been female and was only born a male due to the effects of the potion.

So the original Ranma should really be a girl.

Nodoka, Ranko and Cologne have a discussion about whether or not Ranma is going to be held to the seppeku contract. It turns out that something mysterious has happened in the past, and any daughter of Nodoka has to sort of carry some kind of burden until a son is born in the family, and then he's to do something, but it's all only vaguely referred to.

Ranko, by the way, is definitely a biological female at this point.

Akane, Ukyo and Shampoo talk. Ukyo and Shampoo are both still interested in Ranko as a mate. Mousse, meanwhile, talks to Ryoga about his relationship with Ranma-chan.

Ryoga explains to Mousse that if he really wants a chance with Shampoo, the first thing he should do is get some glasses.

Chapter 33

Genma admits he used magic water on Nodoka to make sure she had a son.

Cologne explains more of what has been going on, and Ranko finds out she is a girl permanently and is not cursed, but that Nodoka may have been involved in things that happened in the past. (Read the story; explaining this part would take too long for even a synopsis)

Akane and Ukyo think Ranma should have a choice of remaining a girl or getting cursed again. Genma and Ukyo argue, Genma his usual greedy, unthinking self, and ends up getting a knee in the groin or his stupidity.

Happosai, who is conscious again, tries to sum things up:

1. Fa Shen, 1500 years ago, was murdered and drowned. That created the cursed spring of drowned woman.

2. Ranma (the original) original's form was female (and became male due to the magic potion she was given by Genma.)

3. Ranma (the original) and Fa Shen fought, her spirit trying to control Ranma's true female body.

4. The result of their battle produced Ranko.

5. Ranko was the one who came out of the cursed spring and not Ranma. Ranko thus became the Ranma of the regular storyline, thinking she was the original Ranma.

6. Fa Shen and Ranko fought for control of her body. The result was the release of the original Ranma (who is the Ranma-chan of the storyline).

7. Because of the various uses of the magic mirror,Fa Shen is now in a male Ranma-type body; the original Ranma is in a female body which should have been hers in the first place (but wasn't due to the magic potion given Nodoka), so really is Ranma-chan after all.

(Thank you Happosai! Finally, it's fairly cleared up who is who. )

Ranma-chan and Fa Shen explain that they need to have sex in order to heal Ranko.

Unfortunately the two of them, after a discussion with Happosai, go to the Tendo dojo and find Nodoka still there, and she thinks Fa Shen is her son Ranma.

Chapter 34

Happosai proceeds to grope Nadoka while the others try to pull him off her.

Happosai takes the magic water from Nodoka and ends up dousing Fa Shen with it, returning her to being a girl.

Happosai manages to douse Geman (in panda form) with hot water, allowing Nodoka to see the transformation take place.

Happosai manages to beat virtually everyone, trapping several in the magic mirror. Nabiki and Kasumi act real nice to him, though, and give him a bowl of soup. He doesn't realize until too late that Akane made it. Somehow he survives her cooking.

After Happosai recovers he starts his negotiations for letting the people trapped in the mirror goes. He gets Nodoka to promise not to use her sword, and not to kill Ranma (in whatever form.)

The promise that Nodoka was to have a son be a man amongst men was due to her father. Ranma was due to fulfill some purpose but the man died before he could tell Nodoka what that purpose was supposed to be.

He reveals that Ranko is really Nodoka's daughter, the one who should have been born, except that Happosai's meddling led to Ranma being born male.

Happi then explains about Ranma's curse, and how Genma kept him hidden from Nodoka.

Ranko explains that, until they went into the magic mirror a week ago,Ranko, Ranma and Fa Shen were all one person.

Cologne then explains about Fa Shen coming into being in a male form, although now she's in female form.

Happi then asks Nodoka if Ranma (currently Ranma-chan) was to be cursed again, would she consider him manly enough not to use the seppeku contract on him. Both Ranko and Ranma-chan plan to get cursed so they can change forms when they want to.

Chapter 35

The chapter opens in the mirror world where Akane, P-chan and Ranma (in girl form) have been trapped.

Ranma-chan holds P-chan, and Akane is surprised since the two normally fight all the time.

Genma explains to Ranma-chan that she was really supposed to be born a girl in the first place, and now he wants her to marry Ryoga.

Akane tries to explain to Ranma-chan that it is her decision on whether or not to be cursed again and spend part of her time as a male.

Nodoka, in the real world, does a lot of thinking about what has been happening.

In a discussion in the dojo, Cologne and the others find out Ranma-chan/Ranma had sex with Ryoga. Cologne points out that , under amazon law (and she considers both Ranko and Ranma-chan to be amazons now), Ryoga and Ranma-chan are officially married. On the other hand, she adds, it might be Ranko that is married to Ryoga, depending on how the amazon laws are interpreted.

Nabiki enters the mirror world and explains what has been going on, and that Nodoka wants to talk to her son. Also, when the people are released they are not supposed to attack Happosai.

Nodoka lets Ranma-chan know just how much she loves her daughter/son. They go inside and Nodoka dumps some hot water on to Ryoga, changing him from P-chan to a fully nude boy.

Nodoka explains to Ranma-chan that it will be her choice to stay her daughter (and marry Ryoga), or get cursed and again be her son (and marry Akane.)

Chapter 36

Shampoo gets hold of a bottle of water that can lock someone in their cursed form and she plans to use it on Ryoga when he's P-chan.

Ukyo and Shampoo talk, and it seems Ukyo has intentions on Ranko and on getting cursed herself so she can really be a male rather than just dress like one.

Akane is furious at Ryoga for betraying her confidence, as P-chan, but she's more upset at just how much Ranma-chan seems to be attracted to Ryoga.

Akane becomes even more furious when she sees Ranma-chan give Ryoga the panties she had mislaid when they had sex, and Akane goes into killer mode.

Chapter 37

Ranma-chan thinks over what Nodoka had said and realizes Nodoka wants either a full-time boy or a full-time girl as a child; no part-time either.

Ranma-chan/Ranma also realizes that she really does love Ryoga and wants to marry him. She's incredibly angry, though, over Nodoka trying to force one single line of behavior out of her.

Akane then uses a form of logic to make the assumption that Ranma-chan was technically raped since it was the Ranko personality that Ryoga started to have sex with, and after they both orgasmed Ranma's personality took over from Ranko's, although still in a female body, and Ranma-chan had not given her consent to have sex (technically)

Akane conveniently overlooks the fact that Ranma-chan is in love with Ryoga and does not consider what happened to be rape.

Kodachi shows up and she and Fa Shen tussle, with Kodachi hitting Fa Shen with one of her concoctions that's a stimulant, causing Fa Shen (who is in a male body) to want to have sex with Ranko, but that ends up not happening.

Chapter 38

Those still at the dojo sit down for supper from the Cat Cafe. Ranko is beginning to have an effect from the drugs on Fa Shen's body and Nabiki has to take her up and put the girl to bed.

Ranma-chan arrives carrying P-chan, and Akane arrives right after them.

Shampoo lies about Fa Shen having left the house and everyone but Nabiki leaves to find her. Shampoo sneaks back in and goes up to the room Fa Shen has been in the entire time. She removes his clothes, planning to have sex with him.

Akane and Ranma-chan are together and Ranma-chan again says that she actually is in love with Ryoga.

Akane finally admits, at least sort of, that she has feelings for Ranko, but she doesn't feel she could live with a curse to be a male. She finally realizes that Ranma-chan loves both Ryoga and her.

Shampoo has sex with the person she thinks is Ranko, but is really Fa-shen, who at the time was in female form.

(It's complicated, but there's a reason for her wanting Ranko specifically.) Nabiki let's Shampoo know she slept with the wrong person.

Chapter 39

Things get ugly quickly. Fa Shen, not trapped in a male body, uses the water Shampoo used on her to force Shampoo to change into a male form, and then uses a special soap to lock Shampoo as a boy.

Fa Shen now calls Shampoo Shun, a boy's name, and states he is under his protection.

And Shun immediately challenges Ranko for her hand in marriage.

(This is to beat Mousse from doing it first.)

The whole thing about what Shampoo did is deadly serious, literally. Cologne agrees to go along with the deception of Shun being an outsider male that wants to challenge for Ranko's hand in marriage. Cologne says that Shampoo is now a fugitive of the tribe and, if found, is to be turned over to the tribe for execution. (The crime was locking Fa Shen, a female, in male form.)

Ryoga has picked up various amazon packets and in the general confusion announcing that, plus the fact that Akane hit him with a table and is still mad at him, a package gets torn just as Akane throws water in Ryoga's direction to change him into P-chan.

Instead of becoming a pig, though, the water plus the powder change Ryoga into a girl. Mousse, too, since he was standing too close. Cologne doesn't know if the change is permanent or not.

Things could also get worse for the two former boys if they got another curse.

Akane and Ryoga-chan have a long talk and Akane finally says she has a packet of stuff to turn into a boy and she wants to have sex with Ryoga-chan. (It's more complicated than just having sex.) She needs to know if she can assume a male form and have sex and stand it, or if she is totally adverse to ever having a male form.

Also, both Genma and Soun were in the path of the water/powder mix, so they are now also both women.

Chapter 40

Fa Shen (in male form) and Ranma-chan take a bath together. One thing leads to another and before long they are having sex. This causes Ranko to be charged up again ki-wise, much faster than she thought possible.

Ranko's energy is fully restored, and Fa Shen returns to being a female, while Ranma returns to being a male.

Ranko also explains that every time Fa Shen and Ranma have sex, they will change sexes during the act.

Ukyo and Ranko talk. Ukyo wants Ranko as a mate, but so does Akane, Ryoga and Mousse.

Mousse then challenges Shun (Shampoo) and they have a major fight. Shun wins (as would Shampoo have won), but doesn't realize until too late that defeating Mousse, who is now a female in form, makes Shun, in male form, the victor; an outsider male defeating an Amazon woman, which means that, by Amazon laws, Shun/Shampoo and Mousse are now married.

Chapter 41

Akane is still planning to curse herself temporarily as a male and have sex with Ryoga. They are staying at Ryoga's for the night. Back at the dojo, the wedding of Shun and Mousse is being set up. Ranma-chan and Ranko get dressed (in dresses).

Nodoka helps them get ready and finds out that Ranma-chan's eyes are always blue, whereas Ranko's eyes change color with her moods.

Cologne and Nodoka talk, and Cologne tells Nodoka that she wants to adopt her and make her an amazon, that Nodoka is probably a descendant of someone who had fallen into the same spring as Ranma and thus was at least partially inhabited by Fa Shen's spirit.

Cologne says they will go to the amazon village after they get done at Jusenkyo. She also says Shampoo's claim on Ranko is no longer valid, and neither is Mousse's. Nodoka will adopt Fa Shen in whatever form she ends up in.

Cologne talks to Shampoo and explains a lot of complicated possibilities under amazon law, one of which is Shampoo becoming female again and being executed. She also tells Shampoo that she is no longer Cologne's heir, and that Fa Shen will take that position.

Happosai reappears and glomps onto a now female Soun and a now female Genma with some humorous results.

Chapter 42

Ranko is thinking about how she took back pieces of her projected psyche from both Ranma and Fa Shen.

That night the wedding dinner takes place for Shun and Mousse-chan.

Ranko goes to Ryoga's and finds Ryoga-chan in a bathroom. She teases her/him some. Ranma has apparently been clobbered by Akane.

Ranko sees Ryoga-chan naked when she has to take a bath after being splashed with cooking oil by Akane-kun (who else?), and Ranko is turned on by Ryoga's female form.

Apparently Ranma is quite upset when he peaked in a window and saw a nude Akane-kun and a nude Ryoga-chan about to have sex.

Chapter 43

It turns out though that they actually didn't get to have intercourse; they were interrupted by Ranko's arrival at the door to the house.

Ranma-chan, Ranko and Fa Shen have a talk and it seems that something strange may be causing people to react the way they have been; they just don't know what it is. (In relation to people changing sexes, having sex, etc.)

They are thinking that their curses are affecting other people, causing them to want to get cursed. Ranma-chan also is becoming more and more mentally like the Ranma-chan of the series; Ranko being a pure female form, and Fa Shen just wanting to return to being female.

Ranma-chan also basically says she wants Ranko to take her place with Ryoga, since, for one thing, it was the original form of Ranko that Ryoga had sex with. That would also leave Ranma-chan free to pursue Akane, once she regains her curse. Ranko does plan to get a curse also, though, since the parts of her she got from Ranma cause her to want to be male at least once in a while.

The next morning the people get ready for their trip to China and Jusenky. Nabiki and Kasumi are staying at the dojo; Nodoka, Ranma-chan, Ranko, Fa Shen, Akane-kun, Ryoga-chan, Mousse-chan, Shun and Ukyo are all going on the trip, with all but Nodoka staying in the magic mirror.

Ryoga and Ranko have a major falling out and both are severely depressed.

Chapter 44

Ranma-chan talks with Nodoka and says she is not ready to get married, and, when she gets her curse back, she wants to start off fresh with Akane.

They group journeys through China and finally get to Herb's camp. The meeting with him does not go well at all. Mousse and Ryoga are splashed with water, changing them, supposedly permanently into girls.

When most of them go to bathe in the river things happen quickly. Mousse returns to being a duck; Shampoo goes back to her cat form, and Ryoga returns to being a human male.

Chapter 45

Ranma uses some magic water on Ukyo to make sure she can't get a Jusenkyo curse and become a male part time.

Ranko and Ukyo talk about the possibility that they might become a couple.

Ranko, though, still loves Ryoga who, while trying to seduce Ranma, gets depressed and ends up releasing energy that causes him to revert to P-chan.

Ryoga's changes have become totally messed up, changing him to male, female, male pig and female pig, the last two triggered by depression, the first two by water temperature.

Herb tries to trick Fa Shen after he tries to return to being a female but it doesn't work. He throws her into the cursed spring Ranma originally fell in,but she takes the curse back from the spring into her self and returns to being a female.

Herb and his two cronies and Ranko, Ranma and Fa Shen all get into a fight but they finally stop when the last three get two of the Musk treasures.

Ranko gets her curse back, now able to change into male or female.

In the end, Cologne plans to adopt Nodoka, and Nodoka plans to adopt Fa Shen. Mousse's marriage to Shampoo/Shun is over, and Ranma is still with Akane but not married to her, and Ranko is not planning to marry any specific person.
