Tales of Ranma and Ranko Part 1

Review

This starts out as a very interesting story. I like the way that it examines Akane's at-times vicious approach to Ranma and I definitely like how she finally comes to realize just how horrible she has been to him at times.

It's also very soap-opera-ish as to the Akane-Ranko-Ranma triangle that is and at first isn't really a triangle, but becomes a triangle when Ranko finally gets to become "real." A good start to the series.

Synopsis

Chapter One

Akane suspects Ranma has been cheating on her and she and Nabiki follow him to a secret place he has above the school's gym. They hear him talking to a girl and find out right off that he has been "saving himself" for marriage. They overhear him say to the girl that she loves him and that Akane hates him.

The girl says that Akane is afraid of her own sexuality and reveals that P-chan is Ryoga. After Ranma and the girl talks for several hours he leaves and Nabiki and Akane get a look at the girl who turns out to be Ranko, but in some form of mirror universe.

Chapter Two

Akane feels that it's now too late for her relationship with Ranma, that there is no way she can be nice to him without him being suspicious, and that she has treated him very, very badly.

Ranma and Akane get in trouble at school and have to stand in the hall where Akane throws water on Ranma. The female half, Ranko, takes over and talks to Akane in the gym attic.

They have a long talk and Akane leaves. We learn the depth of love Ranma has for Ranko although Ranko does want to see Akane and Ranma together.

Chapter 3

Ranma still thinks Akane might hate him while Akane is showing that she has very little self-esteem. Meanwhile P-chan shows up at the dojo. Akane seems him. Akane produces mallet.

"I hit Ryoga," she said in a flat tone. "He went boom."

Akane has a sort of breakdown after that. Ryouga is taken to Dr. Tofu's clinic where Kasumi arrives later and tells Ryouga that he is no longer welcomed in their home.

Ranma is having a nightmare about a cross between Akane and a rabid dog. Ranko enters his dream to stop the Akane-dog and asks him to be gentle with the real Akane.

Chapter 4

Akane finally apologizes to Ranma for hitting him and insulting him. She says she's not feminine enough for him and breaks down crying while Ranma just holds her.

Nabiki and Genma interrupt them and Akane gets angry, threatening both. Both wisely back off.

Akane and Ranma finally admit their love for each other.

< align=center>Chapter 5

Ranma and Akane are worried how everyone will react when they find out that the two of them have declared their love for each other.

The two gods who had been working together to bring Akane and Ranma together realize that Ranko is an entity also and needs to be helped.

Ranma goes to have a talk with Ranko (still in the mirror) and she's been crying. While their talking they find out that Ranko is able to leave the mirror and have an existence of her own in their world.
