CountryMouse's Diary

Part 2

Rainbow swirly bar

Sunday, Aug. 3, 1997: Georgia is "losing hearts" pretty fast now :-/ I guess she's storing up energy and happiness before she makes the transformation to go back to her home planet. I have been hearing rumours of a difference in the US Tam2s, in that the Tams leave on a *space ship* when the time for departure arrives! I will have to find out more about this. It would certainly be easier on a Tam's constitution not to have to go through the final transformation process in order to fly back home!

Tuesday, Aug. 5, 1997: I have been trying to give Georgia lots of good memories today, since she is needing almost constant feeding and care. We surfed the Web some this morning (she has been with me on a LOT of surfing and page construction!). Around noon we went out for a walk, but part of that included seeing our front-yard trees having been pruned rather mercilessly :-( But the sky was blue with some fluffy white clouds on the northwest horizon, there was a breeze, and the air was dry and pleasant. This afternoon we have been listening to music in the company of Stutz Beary-Bear (which included da mouse singing quite a bit too): "Rise Again" by The Rankin Family on their "North Country" CD; "Blessing Song", "Summer, Summer", "Apples of Avalon", "Bridget", "Hestia of the Hearth" all by Ruth Barrett & Cyntia Smith on their "The Heart is the Only Nation" CD; "Bonny Portmore" (for the trees) and "The Old Ways" from Loreena McKennitt's "The Visit" CD; and "Angel" by Grey Eye Glances on their "eventide" CD. Yesterday she got to hear the entire "songs of leaving" CD, Grey Eye Glances' first album. And she got to watch us play the Groo card game and Bleeding Sherwood (a card game wherein you fleece the newly-rich peasants Robin Hood has helped) in the kitchen last night, followed by an episode of "Roar" on TV after that. I forgot to mention, that since athol-brose's Theory of Tamagotchi Peripheral Vision (see July 31st entry, in Part 1) is probably true, then Georgia has gotten to see a LOT of "Sailor Moon" episodes! And BritComs and The Weather Channel, etc.!

Wednesday, Aug. 6, 1997, 3:15am: My little Georgia O'Peep transformed and left me at 8:40pm edt last night. I knew it was going to be soon, what with her needing food and playing-with/snacks almost constantly. I'm just glad I spent a lot of time with her, filling her up with good memories and as much love as I could. I'll miss you, my little girl! You were such good company! Take our best wishes and love back with you to Planet Tamagotchi!

Tuesday, Aug. 12, 1997, 10:58pm: I hatched a little Tam2 last Thursday; and tonight, earlier (around 7:30pm), he changed into a mimi-chi! Very cute! The only icky thing is that I wasn't watching *right* before he went to sleep at 10pm and now he's sleeping with a pile of poo next to him :-( Hope it doesn't make him sick :-/ Anyway, Wild Thang has been getting to see movies! (on laserdisc) He watched "Forrest Gump" with me yesterday; and he got to see the first half of "Michael" (starring John Travolta as an angel) last night. Today he watched 3 episodes of the anime series "Ranma 1/2" with us. And of course he's gotten in a good bit of Web surfing with da mouse :-)

Thursday, Aug. 14, 1997, 5:50am: I cleaned Wild Thang up at 9:01am the next morning (as soon as he woke up), after his having slept with poo next to him all night. He seems to've suffered no ill effects, thank goodness. As to what he's been up to: he's done a good bit of Web surfing, sitting in the traditional Tamagotchi Easy Chair (see July 31st, Part 1); and last night he got to watch yet another rented movie: the incredible, wonderful, and CUTE Jackie Chan's "Drunken Master II", subtitled. Da mouse *never* liked martial arts movies until she saw Jackie Chan! His movies are cute, fun, and he is absolutely incredible! Books Wild Thang is reading/experiencing: he is one in a line of several Tamas (C. Everett Peep and Georgia O'Peep before him) who are hearing (part of) "The Long Dark Tea-Time Of The Soul" (by Douglas Adams) read aloud. When they all get together later on, on Planet Tamagotchi, they will piece the entire book together, so that all of them will then know the entire story! :-) The other book that Wild Thang is involved in is "Doomsday Book" by Connie Willis, an exciting time-travel book! He and I are reading that together, but silently. Tamagotchi have peripheral vision and also selective ESP and remote viewing (like stuffed animals)--they can experience books and see other things that *you* read/see, if you so choose.

Sunday, Aug. 17, 1997: Wild Thang continues to be a joy! I probably shouldn't compare...but I find that so far I have had more fun and enjoyment with the Tam2 mimi-chi than I have with any of my previous Tamas (all Tam1s). The mimi-chi is incredibly cute; and the game you play with your Tama (to keep him/her happy) is easy and fun to play. So far my experience with Tam2s has been one of relaxed enjoyment!

Saturday, Aug. 23, 1997: Wild Thang is losing hearts pretty rapidly, so I guess this means he's storing up energy and happiness for the journey back to his home planet. I hope this won't be for another couple days...At least he won't have to flap his way home like the First Ones: he will get to go in style and comfort, in a little spaceship! :-)

Sunday, Aug. 24, 1997: Wild Thang got to go out for a walk at sunset last night. It was so beautiful, with pink clouds and a delicate blue sky, chimney swifts swooping and diving...It was cool, with a slight breeze. I am glad he's gotten to see some lovely Earth weather :-)

Monday, Aug. 25, 1997: This evening Wild Thang got to root me on to victory in a rousing game of "The Settlers of Catan", which was played at the kitchen table. During a food break, we all watched an episode of "Sailor Moon". :-)

Wednesday, Aug. 27, 1997: Wild Thang had been losing hearts really rapidly. I was surprised he stayed as long as he did. He reminded me of my first-ever Tama, Eggy Peep. It went on that way for *days*. Anyway, W.T. left for home this afternoon. I heard the steady beeping from the other room. I came in to find he had just gone to bed/futon, like he does every night. I guess the beeping was the sound of his little ship powering up and also alerting me to say my farewells. Then all of a sudden W.T. gave me a new egg, flashed a BIG smile, then the little flying saucer appeared on the screen, among the stars! Wild Thang was 21 years old when he left.

Thursday, Aug. 28, 1997: This afternoon early I hatched another Tama (it gets lonely, when you're used to having a virtual pet around and then one leaves). This one is a Japanese Tam2. His/her name is Meep :-) In hir very early life, s/he already got to see an episode of "Black Adder" before going to sleep at 8pm.

Sunday, Aug. 31, 1997: Meep was already asleep last night when we saw on TV that Princess Diana had been injured badly in an auto accident. Then around midnight we learned she had died...Meep kept me company this morning as I put together a little memorial to the World's Princess.    [EDIT: Jan. 19, 2004: I have redone the page in a more fitting manner. EDIT: May 29, 2006: Oh oops, I took down my Princess Di memorial page altogether. There was not much content to it. ::sigh:: ]   This afternoon, we all watched "PeeWee's Big Adventure" to get our minds off things (watching him save the ratties from the pet store was *so cute*!).
