CountryMouse's Diary

Part 31

Saturday, August 10, 2002: Whew! what a job *that* was! I just went through ALL my webpages and took off all the mailto links. There are several places still on the site where you can get my email address, but you have to remove the spaces from it before you can actually send me email. I have been getting SO MUCH SPAM, that I finally realized I was giving those nasty spammers ammunition by having my email address up all over my website! Eep!

Still haven't made the page(s) yet for new photos I have been taking with my Nikon Coolpix 2500. Soon, soon.

N.B. Do not go out at sunset to take gorgeous photos without first donning long sleeves, socks, long pants, and mosquito repellant! Da mouse got her ankles (and hand!) chewed up *real* good! And what with the scare about West Nile virus, wellll...let's just say I am going to be taking sunset photos from inside the hallway until after we have a killing frost! :-P

Come in through the gate!

Sunday, August 11, 2002: Oh boy, I'm so excited! The Mouse Clan had been thinking about moving to its own domain for about a month or so, but yesterday we made it a reality! That's the *other* reason I got rid of almost all references to my old email address! (besides those low-down spammers!)

So I hope you-all have found your way to our new home all right. :-) Things should look very familiar, though. I plan on keeping all the Tamagotchi and other virtual pet stuff here, so no worries! But there's going to be MORE ROOM! I'll get to have about 200MB for my pages! ::eyes glow at the thought of putting up yet MORE photos!:: My pages occupy about 55MB of space at present, but still...it's good to know there will be lots of room. :-)

The other part(s) of why we moved is that we recently got a cable modem. The Cat'r will be hooking us all up on a little network/ethernet, making our old dial-up accounts redundant, as to email and web-browsing and newsgroups and such. So all we needed was a better and cheaper place to host our webpages. And here we are! :-)

Lord of the Rings DVDSo what else has been going on? Well, we got a copy of "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" on DVD (widescreen version--click on the picture at left to see it larger). Wonderful! But Teddy and all the other Fuzzy People and I are very very glad Cat'r is reading it aloud to us! It's much deeper, more complex, and richer than the movie could possibly have time to be. See the movie! But read the books TOO! :-)

I don't know when I will be getting back to raising any virtual pets. Sometime...other things keep vying for my attention, though. ::grin:: But I am keeping all the pages and pictures up here, even if I don't have time right now to raise a Tam or other little vpet. I enjoy looking back at all the different experiences I have had with them.

So welcome/welcome back!

Welcome Friends!

still Sunday, the 11th, 11:15am: Whoa, this feels so weird: no modem, no connection to the 'net. Eep! Cat'r has put the network card into my computer, but he's going out to get cable and a network card for Bunnicula's computer. Then he's going to hook us all up on the cable modem later today. Then I guess I will be uploading The Mouse House after that, to our new home, home on the Web.

2:07pm: Okay, I've made the page for my Nikon Coolpix 2500 photos, but no photos are there yet. But, see? I'm making progress. ::grin::  Anyway, it's called, unimaginatively enough, Mouse with Coolpix! [changed it to an index page as of Aug. 16th]

Thursday, August 15th, 2002: Workin', workin', workin'; see that mousie workin' &c. :-P  Okay, I have been working on the Tamagotchi Links page (and also trying to email everyone about the change of URL) plus I made some changes on the general links page too, which is called Places To Go, People To See.

On Tuesday morning, my computer finally wouldn't boot, after a couple (or more) months of the CPU fan making horrible grind-y noises and not spinning fast enough (causing the chip to overheat! eep!). So the Cat'r took it to be repaired, and I got it back sameday. Now it's nice and quiet and works great! *knock on wood!* So that, combined with the zoomy, fast cable modem, has made it seem like a whole new computer! Yay!

I am pretty sure all the webrings and all junctions of The Rail are working properly. I went and made those changes late Sunday night. Let me know, please, if anything is not working properly! My email address is on the top page and also in a few other places.

Okay, back to more emailing people to let them know!

Friday, August 16, 2002: All righty then! I've made a start in putting up photos I've been taking with my new Nikon Coolpix 2500 digital camera. I modelled that section on this diary section, with an index page so that it will be easier on da mouse to update and add pictures. It's called, as mentioned earlier, Mouse with Coolpix! There aren't many photos there yet, but more are coming! Bizzy bizzy!

Sunday, August 18, 2002: Well, I've gotten bitten by the let's-join-lots-of-webrings bug again. ::grin:: So I am joining the Holidays For Fun webring. The code is there, but I am awaiting final approval. It's located on the Mouse House Holiday Pages. More to come! ::mouse chuckling!::

'round midnight: More photos have been added to the Mouse with Coolpix! section, including a tiny bear, sunset photos, and a cooking demonstration!

P.S. Holidays For Fun webring is now functioning on my end!

Monday, August 19, 2002: I put one other picture up in the Mouse with Coolpix! section, one of some interesting clouds at sunset.

Woohoo! Bunnicula got me some neat stuff today! He got me a beautiful purply-with-butterflies-pattern fleece throw that transforms into an easy-to-store/transport backpack! He also got me a plush-covered purple diary with matching pen. And he got me a big pack of gel pens (30!): metallic, glitter, and pearlized. ::happy mouse::

Here are pics of the things he got me (click on each to see it LARGER!):

Wednesday, August 21, 2002: A few more photos up in the Mouse with Coolpix! section, down at the bottom of the page. I will be starting Page 2 any day now.

Friday, August 23, 2002: I am adding pictures of a storm that we had in the lateDscn0959a.jpg (165940 bytes) afternoon/evening of Monday, July 29, 2002. At the time I was taking the photos of the light-streaming-through-clouds after the storm, all I could think was, "Oh! Oh! I must get this!". But now when I look at the pictures, I think of the overwhelming finale of Jehan Alain's (1911-1940) organ masterpiece "Litanies", as played by E. Power Biggs on his album "A Festival of French Organ Music". As far as I know, this album has never been rereleased on CD, to the great detriment of all. Click on the image to see it LARGER. Then go here to see the storm and sunset photos.

Thursday, August 29, 2002: I've added quite a few new photos to the Mouse with Coolpix! section! And you thought I wasn't taking any photos lately--silly you!   How can I *not* take photos?! Anyway, the new photos are on Page 2 of that section. Go see--you'll even see my ::gasp!:: bathroom!

Later: More photos! We're on Page 3 of the Mouse with Coolpix! section now!

Friday, August 30, 2002: I know this sounds like a broken record (do you know what a broken record sounds like? When an old record--especially a 78rpm--has a crack in it, it skips/sticks, so that you hear the same bit repeated again and again!), but there are more photos in the Mouse with Coolpix! section, on Page 3. :-)  Lay your cursor over each photo--sometimes you might see something interesting!
