CountryMouse's Diary

Part 52

Rainbow swirly bar

Tuesday, May 3, 2005, 6:52pm:  Blessed Beltane a couple days late! I hope you all had a lovely day, getting out in Nature and enjoying the flowers and sweet breezes and all!

I am taking a vacation from online for a bit, so you may not see me much here or in my LiveJournal [EDIT: now CountryMouse's Refuge]. I have had the computer on about 1/2 hour a day, if THAT! I've been reading, knitting and crocheting, and generally spending time with my family.

I have pics to post of FO's (finished objects) in the Needlework section. I also have regular pics to post in the Coolpix section. And I also do plan to do our handfasting page. But I am just going to take my own sweet time and not stress about it. Things will get done when they get done. Patience is a virtue and all that.  :-P

So take time to do the things you like, spend time with your loved ones, and don't forget to notice the beauty of Nature.

Wednesday, May 18, 2005, 2:39am: Here is a picture of my newest friend, a Sunbeam Warm Mist Humidifier Model #1126 (click the pic to see it larger). I think of him as my little R2D2.  :-P  That long skinny front plate is actually a translucent water window. This unit has a blue tank light that lights up the water window from within. Very soothing and useful. :-)  Here are other his other specs:

* For medium to large-size rooms
* 1.1 Gallon capacity
* 20 hours of continuous operation on 1 filling
* Shatterproof water tank
* Removable inner tank that is easy to fill, clean and carry
* Convenient handle to transport unit from room to room
* Auto Off "Tip" switch shuts off power if unit tips over
* NiteViewTM tank light illuminates water tank level
* 2 comfort settings for desired moisture output
* Refill indicator light lets you know when to add water
* Up to 3.0 Gallon Output per day

R2 is helping me get over a bad cold and cough. He is sitting right by my side of the bed, on the floor. I need to get back to bed SOON.

Friday, May 20, 2005, 9:18am: Cold/cough gradually getting better/going away...verrrry gradually. You should see da mouse do "two-fisted drinking"! Ha! A shot glass of Wal-Tussin cough syrup in her left paw and a large mug of ice-cold spring water chaser in her right paw. Wow, it takes a strong rodent to do it!

Meanwhile, to not be hiding things again like I did in 2001: I am seeing my (new) surgeon next Tuesday, then my radiation oncologist on Friday to see what's going on in the breast-cancer department. All is not as it should be; but my rad-onc says he is not worried. So I am not gonna worry. More as I know more.

New page, to accommodate a couple lovely gifts. It's the GOF Blossoms page. I just adore all the music from the ChronoCross soundtrack, so the music there is yet another cut from it.

Boy, was *I* shocked this morning when I went to browse, as oft I have, the wonderful selection of linkware websets at Moon & Back Graphics, only to discover that they have totally closed down their linkware section.  = 8-O  Well, I saved quite a few sets in the past, so that's something. M&B have always had such gorgeous websets...

I've been knitting a bit lately, although not anything spectacular. I made a cheerful little garter-stitch yellow coaster on Wednesday. I've also been working on various scarves. And of course the long-suffering, ongoing navy-grape throw. Heh.

Yesterday I crocheted a coaster from No. 10 bedspread cotton! Three strands held together, using a G hook. I made a granny hexagon. It turned out bigger than I wanted for a particular space on my desk, so I gave it to Cat'r. He likes the cheerful colours. :-)  I'll try that motif (or maybe another?) in No. 3 thread and a slightly smaller hook to see if I get a smaller thingumee.

Oh yeah, you GOTTA go check out my sister's latest crochet patterns! I am buying most of them! (no, I don't get a discount or a kick-back!) Remember the clue...errrr, name: Paanmo Designs!

I have had to change my guestbook settings so that I can review all entries before they show up. Everyone has *not* "played nice". So since I don't want nice genteel folk coming to my site seeing offensive entries, I've changed it so that the bad stuff will never see the light of day and only the nice entries make it through. :-)  If you have good intentions, never fear, your entries will show up!

Now please do remember that as things are at present, sometimes I do not turn my computer on for a day or two or more at a time. But I *will* get to the guestbook approvals and other such things as I can.

OH YEAH! I so wanted Vonzell to be in the top two on American Idol; but since she didn't make it, I'll be voting for Bo Bice. Carrie is a terrified airhead who has NO personality on stage!

And now back to your regularly-scheduled online and offline lives (meeee toooo!)!

Monday, May 30, 2005: Today is Memorial Day. I have relatives who have passed on, who served in the military; but none died in wars. My Uncle F. served the longest, in the U.S. Merchant Marines. Daddy was in the Army Air Corps; I forget which branch Uncle B. was in. And there is Bunnicula's family: both his dad and mom were in the military. But heartfelt thanks to all those who gave their lives to keep us all safe and free.
