CountryMouse's Diary

Part 61

Rainbow swirly bar

Thursday, May 4, 2006, 1:14pm: Eek, missed wishing you all a Blessed Beltane !

Well, Bunnicula and I started up our Tamagotchi Connection V3's today! The progress of Alex (and family) will be over on this page, plus some here, probably. :-)  I haven't been to Tamagotchi Town since Alex was born. I have some codes that I got playing games there earlier on. There's a whole new world awaiting Alex there!

ATTENTION: In case you don't know, my pages may be in your cache. So if you get to a page and you think I haven't changed anything, just hit Refresh! :-)

Friday, May 5, 2006, 3:42pm: Yesterday I took Alex to Tamagotchi Town online. We went to the movies, and we got movie posters! I also won some other gifts for him at the games arcade! I am not sure how to access them, though, once I've put the codes into the egg. Hmm. Waiting to receive help on the VPetsML Yahoo group (the mail has been sloooooow lately!).

Alex is still 0 years old because I put him on pause early early this morning, then went back to bed myself, then unpaused him around 9:30am. So I guess his not waking up at his usual time caused him to not age any yet. Oh well. :-P

5:48pm: I was wrong, I think. It seems that Alex passed the 1-year mark sometime after my last post. Then at 5:35pm, he turned into a teenager, an obotchi! Very cute!  (check him out on the Tam V3 page) He looks like a teenage boy (well, a teenage tamatchi!) from the 1950's, with his hair in a curl on his forehead. :-P

Sunday, May 7, 2006, 8:39am: I am pretty sure the reason I am still not getting any help from the VPetsML Yahoo group about Tamagotchi Connection V3 codes is that Yahoo Groups has been slammed with a huge onslaught of emails because of the "My Wife" virus. They are currently adding additional server capacity, plus taking other steps. I guess this is going to result in a great slowdown of Yahoo groups until things calm down.

So in the meantime, I still don't know what the letter codes do or where to input them; I don't know how to access the items that come from numbered codes. So I am mostly just taking care of Alex as I would with a regular old-fashioned Tam. I haven't even tried having him visit the only other in-person friend he might have, as that didn't seem to work when they were both still at the toddler stage. They are both teenagers now, but I don't think there will be time today--today is our RPG day (friends coming over for the afternoon). Then Cat'r will be getting ready to go back to his out-of-town job. ::sigh::   :-/

Random Thought As To Why People May Not Even Be Reading This (other than the obvious it-may-be-boring): As I stated some time back, the reason this diary looks this way is that I find it much easier to update and take care of than in a blog format. I tried that. I hated working with the code. So information (such as it is) is here. It just doesn't look that up-to-date. And there is my LiveJournal [now CountryMouse's Refuge--all archives are there], although I haven't even been updating that very often lately. Oh well.

9:41am:  Okay, enough. I just read my Good Things list. There is much to be thankful for and much that brings solace and contentment. Now I need to go cook. Laters, y'all!

Monday, May 8, 2006, 9:52am: Well, I don't know if I/we have (a) defective Tamagotchi or what. Bunnicula and I have tried and tried to get our Tams to visit each other, give presents to each other, etc. We know how to do the infrared thing, as we had our Tam Connection V1's visit and mate back in 1994 with no problem. Anyway, when we try with our V3's, nothing happens. Just nothing. Grrrr.

Also I am having a lot of trouble with most of the games (I am just not good at them, I guess). There might be some secrets to the best way to do them. The only one I can do well is the Get (catch musical notes) game. The Push (I think it's called) is difficult, as I don't know when you're supposed to start hitting the button to get the maximum strength/power on the meter before the backwards-sumo-style bout. The heading/bouncing-the-ball game must be in very careful timing is all I can figure out. And the Flag game is kind of a mystery to me. ::sigh:: I know the other two games, coming when Alex is an adult, will be mostly familiar, though. The memory game will be like the dancing game; and the sprint or running game is also one we've had before.

On the RPG front, we had yet another great session!  :-)  We didn't do any fighting or killing this week, surprisingly (we're on board ship at present, fleeing one place where we wreaked havoc and destruction--hey, most of us are pirates. I, a cleric-on-the-run, am getting passage on this ship, so I guess I am now a pirate! (guilty by association)). Yesterday our 3d mate managed to negotiate us out of a possible problem with some mer-people (who might've known more dangerous and scary below-the-sea creatures). So we closed the session spotting a coastal village just off the port bow, burning to the ground. The ship's crew voted to go investigate next time. Heh. That should be interesting. :-P  Oh oh, yeah, the ship is called The Unpleasant Business. :-D   The DM shall be known here as Bebop; his wife is Baker; and then there's Cat'r and me. The DM is great at acting out the NPC's! And he does all these cool intricate maps and charts and back stories. It's a LOT of fun!

Tuesday, May 9, 2006, 9:50am: Yay! Posts are leaking through to the VPetsML Yahoo group now! I got some help. I know where to put in the letter codes now (go to the Shop under "Activities/Games", hit A repeatedly until the shopkeeper throws up his hands, then put in the code) and approximately where the number-codes items show up (various places). As to the IR problem: either Bunnicula's and/or my Tam Connection V3 has a defective or weak infrared port for connecting to another Tam. So the advice was to start up a Tam with IR that I know works (this would be the Tam V1 that is peach/pink with hearts on it). Then I should try to connect it with each V3, seeing if the good Tam works with either or none.

Alex is coming along okay. I am saving up Gotchi Points to go see the King of the Tamagotchi online. I have to save up about 3000 more Points to give to the King's Charity (5000 points minimum). Then Alex and I will go see the King.

W00t! I am getting a Dell notebook computer!! I had enough saved up so I can pay half right away and the rest over the next six months! It's an Inspiron B130, nothing fancy; but it will have a DVD/CD read/write drive! And with our little LAN here (which is semi-wireless), I can copy all my MP3's over and burn them/back them up to DVD! Yay! My main computer, Mouse House, is a Dell also.

Wednesday, May 10, 2006, 4:59pm:  I wasn't in the room right when Alex woke up this morning; so sometime between 9am and 9:45am he changed into his adult form, a cute CUTE mametchi! This afternoon around 3:40pm I was fooling around with items, seeing what he could play with. I gave him a stuffed animal. He looked happy, jumped up into the air and off the screen...and came back down as a nyatchi (the stuffed animal)?! Or the nyatchi replaced him?? Where is my mametchi?? Is this an Invasion of the Tamagotchi Body Snatchers?? EEEEEEK!

One thing I failed to mention earlier. Even when a Tam has good discipline, it seems that sometimes s/he does not want to play games. :-/  Bunnicula informed me that if you bribe the Tam with a snack, usually it will then go ahead with the game. :-)  I think it might also have to do with getting down too close to the minimal weight for the Tam's type and that further exercise would be bad for it.

5:40pm: Hooray for the helpful folks on the VPetsML Yahoo group! They are telling me that the nyatchi/stuffed animal thing is a costume that my mametchi is having fun wearing and that he will take it off when he goes to bed tonight. Tomorrow he will look like his usual cute self again.  :-)  Yay!

5:47pm: Heh. Alex is singing.  :-P   Well, I can't hear it; but there are musical notes by his head, and he's opening his mouth and gesturing as if he were singing. Cute.  :-)

Wednesday, May 17, 2006, 12:02pm: A belated Happy Mother's Day to all you ladies out there to whom this applies! Here is a lovely graphic JanDee of The Garden of Friendship sent out to us for the day:

Mother & Me - Happy Mother's Day

In other news: I've had Alex on pause all this week, well, since last weekend actually. Cat'r had to have an emergency appendectomy last Friday (down in the town where he works and lives all week), then Saturday his friends Peanut and Peanut's wife brought him up here to recuperate for the week. So I didn't want to be busy taking care of the Cat'r and miss the arrival of the matchmaker, Mrs. Busybody. So next week I will be playing with Alex again.   :-)   He has two radio-controlled cars he likes to play with; and he also has a ball he likes to walk/balance on!

My notebook computer, BlackBeauty, arrived on Monday! That perked Cat'r up, since he had fun configuring it for me and then hijacking it. ::grin::  I am going to eventually get all the mailto: links on this site changed over to my gmail account. And Cat'r is going to help me get all my other mail forwarded to that account too so that I can check my mail from either/any computer.

We've been having gloriously cool, grey, breezy, drizzly weather for about a week now! It's wonderful to be able to have the windows open and let the sweet Springtime air drift in, bringing all the scents of earth and wet bark and leaves. ::happy sigh::

1:29pm: Yesterday afternoon we all watched the movie "Elizabethtown". It was a sweet, tender, funny, rambling movie. Orlando Bloom! ::swoon!!:: Then in the evening Cat'r and I watched a very odd (and as it turns out a cult classic) documentary called "Grey Gardens", about Edith Bouvier Beale and her daughter Edie (cousins of the late Jackie O.), who lived in a rundown ramshackle house on Long Island. Here is a link for you to find out more. Click on both pics below to see them larger.

Friday, May 19, 2006, 5:40am: NOTICE REGARDING MY GUESTBOOK ENTRIES! I am SO SORRY for not approving entries between October 18, 2005 and now! I have gotten NO notification emails from Bravenet in all that time! I was changing a lot of mailto: addresses different places yesterday (including Bravenet); and today I got an email from them saying someone had signed my guestbook. Imagine my shock and surprise when I found over 140 entries awaiting my review and approval! And here I thought no one was signing my guestbook all this time, that no one even read this site anymore!

I am slowly getting to reading and approving everyone's kind entries (plus gifts and invitations that have been left!). Thank you ALL, and please do not take the silence that has been these last several months as indifference or bad manners. It's really not my fault! (this time!)

8:56pm: One of the things that happened in my guestbook while I was totally unaware of what was going on there was a rollicking party put on by that zany Garden of Friendship Guestbook Party Brigade! Here is the page with all the gifts and such from back in March of this year!

Friday, May 26, 2006, 6:40am: I'm a little early with this, but I might not be able to get to working on my pages this weekend:

We Will Not Forget - Happy Memorial Day

So I am thinking of joining a web competition. I have never done this before. I am probably going to wait until after my BC checkup in a couple weeks. Just in case.

I think we are going to see the new X-Men movie tonight. Maybe? I haven't heard anything from Baker and Bebop yet. [EDIT 7:12am: Cat'r just phoned. He has a cold, so won't be up this weekend. So no movie.]

Speaking of Bebop (the DM for our RPG game): here is an entry I made in my LiveJournal yesterday about our last RPG session!

Still in the process of changing all my mailto: links to my gmail account. I'm gettin' there! Slowly. ::grin::

Oh yeah, and yesterday I finally got all my Build-A-Bear Workshop clothes and accessories organized and got everyone into summer outfits. :-)  I now have 10 BABW people altogether (counting a Target Special tiny stuff-it-yourself bear). There's Martin, Hope, Sophie, Cricket, Orlando (from Oprah's shop online), Mary, Joy, Gordon, Miles, and Miriam. I plan to take a group photo of them as soon as I can get a round tuit.   :-P

11:32am: I just finished reading The Book Thief a couple days ago. Bunnicula said he found it in the Young Adult section at our favourite bookstore; but I can't imagine it being YA. It was a difficult book to read, set in Nazi Germany. Some graphic descriptions of soldiers' injuries and so forth. It was difficult, but very rewarding. I would recommend it for any adult.

I am currently reading The Time Traveler's Wife, which Cat'r recommended to me. It's obviously about time travel (which I love); but it's also a love story. Things are very slide-y as to how they are being presented (because of the nature of things happening all everywhen), but it's very good.

11:59pm: The cable modem was out for hours and HOURS today! Aaarggghh! I am surprised it's back on now even. Anyway, I worked offline on my pages. I still have lots more to do; but there are more presents and such added to my Wings of Love and Light section and the same over in my Garden of Friendship section.

Tired and hungry now. Need to briefly check email, then go eat a LATE supper!

Saturday, May 27, 2006, 6:34pm: I'm having more time to myself this weekend than I thought I would, so I created a small Memorial Day page. Every year Bunnicula gets me a poppy from one of the American Legion folks who stand outside stores with them. My Uncle Freddy used to be a very gung-ho member of the American Legion. He was a lifelong Merchant Marine and saw much of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He travelled to almost every country of the world. He was brave and kind and open-hearted. I miss him...a lot.

Monday, May 29, 2006, 1:38am: (Memorial Day, Observed) Well, I went and did it. I don't even know what I am doing yet, I am such a newbie. I joined a Web Competition. You will see signs plastered in various places around the site. ::grin:: Here is one more place, to remind you, in case you somehow slipped right into this page and avoided every other one. :-P  Here it is:

Mystical-Meadows NVE Competition
My Voting Page

If you have ever enjoyed this site or gotten any useful information from it, I hope you would consider hopping on over to My Voting Page and clicking the Hobbit button, then voting for The Mouse House. I would really appreciate it! :-)  [EDIT Sept. 19, 2007: I have quit competing as of today, so the Voting Page is no longer there--thanks for all your support!]

2:26am: Well, this sucks royally. Gmail decided to lose a lot of my mail. I am going to have to have Cat'r walk me through setting things back to my bookmice email accounts I have/had over on 1 and 1. Anything that's important that you-all send me to my Gmail account I will then forward to my bookmice address. I especially cannot have this sort of thing happening for purchases and business correspondence.

Sheesh, my entire conversation with Lady Astra about joining Mystical Meadows is gone, just gone. ::sigh:: Also letters from friends, and some I sent to family too are gone. I think some of Cat'r's emails are gone too.  :-(

7:35pm: Everything, email-wise, is back as it should be (minus lost mail ::sigh::), except I need to find out how to have Thunderbird come up automatically when I click on an email link. Right now it's set to bring up the Compose Mail page in Gmail.

I was just looking at some of my old old Snow Pictures. I guess because it's been so hot out (90oF. or so today). I was just noticing the rolled-up towel at the west window of my "bedroom" (which was really the dining room, but I had to sleep somewhere). Then I remembered, yep, no storm windows. And then I thought, oh yeah, I wore a lot of cotton waffle-weave thermal underwear then. Long-sleeve dark blue (or red--I had that too) thermal crew-neck shirt with a flannel shirt over it (as a jacket, sorta) and jeans. Hiking boots with knee socks. And during the blizzard and the Arctic cold after, Mama and I used our coats, spread out over us, as extra top blankets. I *still* prefer winter over summer, though!

Tuesday, May 30, 2006, 1:22pm: The *real* Memorial Day (nee Decoration Day) here in the USA.

I made a Mystical Meadows Spirit Page! Go see! :-)
