CountryMouse's Diary

Part 74

Rainbow swirly bar

Friday, June 1, 2007, 2:18pm: It's June already! If you've been over at my LiveJournal, you'll know about our going through things/decluttering/hauling things away to Goodwill and Half-Price Books. Bunnicula just came home with a couple short bookcases to put under the windows here in my computer room. Half of the monstrous bookcase section (that blocked the windows) is gone now (temporarily using "egg crate" squares for a bookcase to the right of my computer desk). Soon we will have two matching white bookcases along/under the windows.

Soooo much more stuff to get rid of! We have been such packrats over the years! I wouldn't say we're hoarders, but I got a little scared (about our tendencies) when I saw photos of hoarders' houses. EEEK! So we were already getting rid of *some* things when the landlord came by on Wednesday about measuring for new thermal windows.

If you don't see updates here, always be sure to check my LiveJournal [now moved to CountryMouse's Refuge]. If, for some reason, I can't be here, I will either be using my laptop or someone else's computer, and I *can* update my LJ from anywhere. I can only update CM's Diary from my large/main computer. I can also use Gmail from anywhere.

Wednesday, June 6, 2007, 6:26pm:  I made some necessary changes in the Tamagotchi/Virtual Pets section. I am getting rid of quite a few of my vpets. They will be offered for sale on the Yahoo! group VPetsML. I am not getting rid of any Japanese vpets. Why am I getting rid of them? We are totally crowded up and running out of room, and the vpets have become a kind of ball-and-chain. I am keeping enough of each kind so that I can still play with them; but I am not keeping every darn colour that ever was released. ::grin::

Saturday, June 9, 2007, 6:44pm: I hadn't played with Happy since early March. So just a little while ago I sent her and her little son (whose name I never did know) back to Planet Tamagotchi. She can't have been having much of a good time, being in stasis all this time. So at least she can go back home and tell of her school days, wedding, motherhood, working in the bakery, learning to play Hearts, going to a Starbucks coffee shop, seeing the TV series "Jericho", etc. Bye, sweetie! I hope you enjoyed your time here!

Sunday, June 10, 2007, 1:09am: W00t! My cicada sounds were used for this Yahoo! news story! Click here to go watch and listen!

5:38pm: I started up a Yasashii Tamagotchi! Her name is Sweet Patootie.  :-P

7pm: Hmm. I thought baby Yasashii Tams went to bed at 7pm. I guess it will be 8pm?

I've been looking back through my older entries re: Cozy, Ariel, and Barnavelt. It seems I had trouble with the guessing game back then too. I may have to resort to giving snacks to fill up happy hearts...but this will probably cause illness. I wonder if this is why all my previous Yasashii Tams went home earlier than regular P1 and P2 Tams do.

7:29pm: At 7:24pm all the lights on Sweet Patootie's (I'm gonna have to start calling her Tootie or something short) egg started flashing, and there was a tinkling sound. She transformed into her next stage of development and promptly fell asleep. I don't know if this is a nap or her I'm-asleep-for-the-night. Well, either way I was prompted to turn out the lights, which I did.

Wednesday, June 13, 2007, 10:24am: Sweet Patootie's discipline was coming along nicely. Then at 10:19am this morning (a few minutes ago) s/he turned into a mayumarutchi. And hir discipline meter dropped to ZERO! Nuts! Also, I don't know if Sweet Patootie is a girl or boy now. Oh well!

Thursday, June 14, 2007, 9:17am:  Today is Flag Day here in the U.S. Before the days of rah-rah America-love-it-or-leave-it, we were quietly happy with our country. And this day was set aside to show our pride in her.

Flag Day

Sweet Patootie seems to be on the 8am-8pm schedule now, which makes my mornings a little easier. :-)  Latest stats are here.

Weather: we almost had some storms last night, coming from a very strange (for this area) direction--the northEAST. But they fizzled out and never got here. We didn't need scary weather, but we DO need rain. We are way below the average rainfall for last month and this month. And our temperatures have been running about 10oF. above normal (this is my estimate, not anything official). How much of this is due to global warming and global weather trends affected by that, I don't know.

Friday, June 15, 2007, 2:37pm: I made a new set of prayer beads today, partially in response to someone I know needing prayers for healing. But then we all know people who need healing, and we're often asked to pray/think healing thoughts for folks. I thought these beads would help me to focus better.

Sweet Patootie is coming along okay, I think. I've been trying to make sure hir weight doesn't get up too high by not feeding too many snacks and by playing the guessing game pretty frequently. S/he's been watching me bead, do lots of stuff online, play Animal Crossing:Wild World, has been reading with me, etc. We *should* watch some TV or a movie together before it's time for him/her to go home.

Saturday, June 16, 2007, 11:39am:  OMG, so cute!!! Sweet Patootie turned into a Pantarotchi at 11:34am (just five minutes ago). I hope I can keep hir around for a while! I've never gotten this character before. S/he looks just like a panda bear dancing back and forth across the screen.    Click on the picture at left to see it much larger!

Sunday, June 17, 2007, 7:44am: Happy Father's Day, all you dads, granddads, and all the other men who are or have been father figures in our lives!

Happy Father's Day

Here's my little tribute page to my father. I miss him.

6:34pm: A new quiz and Sweet Patootie's updated stats. S/he watched the 1946 movie "Devotion" with us yesterday. It's about the Brontës. Very good, but of course it contained tragedy.

Monday, June 18, 2007, 8:23am: There's no sleeping in with a Yasashii Tamagotchi! Every morning it wakes up ravenous! All hungry hearts are empty. And before a half hour is gone, it is selfish/misbehaves (asking for something it doesn't need, then refusing when you offer), requiring discipline. But otherwise Yasa Tamas are nice.  :-)  Sweet Patootie even lets me know when I need to flush the toilet, now that s/he has reached adulthood.  :-P

8:46am: I'm still reading several books at one time, but I've added Un Lun Dun by China Miéville (click on the picture at right to see it larger). This is actually Cat'r's book that I gave to him for his birthday. He said I would really like it. It's...odd, but fascinating! Sometimes I think I am too sensitive: things that don't feel scary for young adult readers (target audience for this book) sometimes creep me out, if I'm in the wrong mood. It's good I am reading other things at the same time, so that I can switch off to something else if necessary. ::weak smile:: Sorry, Cat'r! I do like it, it's just...creepy.

Wednesday, June 20, 2007, 1:18pm: Oh nuts, I knew I should've gone up to World of Beads this morning and taken Sweet Patootie with me so that s/he could have had an outing while visiting our planet. But I didn't. And now Sweet Patootie has left and gone back in the flying saucer that came for hir. At 1:16pm Sweet Patootie started making all those tinkling sounds, the buttons all started flashing, and s/he was crying profusely. Then the flying saucer came and took him/her away. It left an egg, but I am not sure I want to raise another Tam at the moment. ::sigh::  Bye bye, Sweet Patootie! I hope you enjoyed your stay! We did a lot of video gaming and reading and online stuff together! I'll miss you!

Something I meant to post earlier: sometimes Sweet Patootie's food was a loaf of bread, sometimes it was a hamburger. And sometimes his/her snack was a slice of cake and sometimes it was a cookie.  Why do these Yasashii Tamagotchi go home so much earlier than regular P1 and P2 Tams?   :-(

(nuts, nuts, nuts)

1:56pm: Here is what it says at Tamagotchi Square: "Throughout the year, tamagotchi have events like sports competitions, swimming competitions, Christmas, and because of this, the tamagotchi have to get into their Hyrurun UFO and go back to Tamagotchi Planet. It's sad, but it can't be helped." Okay, so I guess Sweet Patootie had places to go and people to see, and had to get on with his/her life back on Planet Tamagotchi. Well, that makes it somewhat easier. ::sniffle::

Thursday, June 21, 2007, 1:45am: Happy Litha/Midsummer (well, as of 2:06pm Eastern Daylight Time) !

4:38pm: I am in the process of making some places of refuge, places of quietness for myself on my site. Remember when you go to any of these pages that although they may look to be of a particular religion,  I am a Unitarian Universalist and enjoy good things from many religions. The one I finished today is more Christian. Well, I have liked this webset for a while, since I like the kindness of Jesus' face in it: He's just a weary traveller, He's just one of us. And I have liked the song "In The Garden" for a long time too. So on that tan sandy page I have created an oasis. You can always go down to the bottom of the page and turn down or turn off the music and just rest there quietly yourself for a bit. Here is In The Garden.

Monday, June 25, 2007, 8:45pm: Well I was thrilled when I won the Garden of Friendship's Site of the Week award last month. You could've knocked me over with a feather when I got the Site of the Month award today! Wow! I am really honoured! I am just so happy to be a part of this wonderful group. We're about to have our month-long Birthday Bash in July. I can't wait!
