CountryMouse's Diary

Part 79

Thursday, November 1, 2007, 5:45pm: Fall colors warm my soul We are finally having a beautiful autumn! Warm-ish days, chilly nights, beautiful colourful trees! Yay for autumn!

Yipes! A lot of the places where I get my blinkie calendars haven't gotten their November calendars up yet or in one case the site is just GONE. I hope this is just a temporary anomaly.

Needles to DeathI am seriously thinking of overhauling my needlework section and dumping all my knitting, crochet, and loom knitting together. It's just too weird having to flip back and forth to see things that are sets. I might have a knitted scarf paired with a crocheted hat. So you'd have to go to two different pages to see the set. Clunky. I need to fix things. When I start doing that, it's going to mean temporarily-broken links in CM's Diary. You have been warned. :-P

Books! I finished A Good Yarn, then read Lily Dale: Awakening (fairly serious paranormal thriller--the beginning of a series), The Secret Life of Sparrow Delaney (cute funny heartwarming supernatural tale), and Knit One, Kill Two (a knitting murder mystery!). I am currently reading the second book in this series, Needled to Death (click on the pic to see it larger).

Tuesday, November 6, 2007, 2:24am: I've got the renovated Needlework Section up, but it might still have some things not quite right. CM's Diary is at present full of broken links because of the changes. Probably my LJ is too. I'll work on those over the next few days.

Today is Election Day in the USA. If you are a qualified voter, please vote!

2:02pm: I think I have the links in CM's Diary leading to photos in my Needlework Section all fixed now. ::whew!:: Now I have to go back through all my LiveJournal entries, plus my Yahoo 360* blog, etc. and fix *those* links. Eeee!  If you see anything broken, please please email me so I can fix it! TIA! Oh yeah, and after I am sure I have things in proper chronological order, I will be adding dates to the page numbers on the main needlework index page.

Wednesday, November 7, 2007, 2:40pm:  Yay! I think I am all finished fixing links in CM's Diary, my LiveJournal, my Yahoo 360* blog, and a couple other places!

Here are some new photos: I made a little keep-my-hair-in-place flapper-ish crocheted openwork hat before I went for a doctor's appointment on Friday, October 19th. And *here* (finally!) is the entire knitted Embers Set! I stitched up the back of the hat in a hurry in the wee hours of the morning (seriously!--about 5am, after knitting for hours!) on Wednesday, October 24th. I thought I was going to be wearing it that day to the Knitting & More group. But it turned out not to be as chilly as I had anticipated (durn weather forecasters!), so I didn't wear it that day. I wasn't happy with the job I had done on the seam because I had been rushing and I was very tired; so when I had the time, I undid the seam and redid it more to my satisfaction. So the set was officially completed on October 29th. Yay!

3:16pm: AND go look at Bunnicula's beautiful photos of the fall foliage around here!

Tuesday, November 13, 2007, 12:28pm: Another yarn-y project completed. It's actually the beginning of a set--I still need to crochet the matching hat and wrist warmers. Here is a neckwarmer--and boy, is it warm!

2:04pm: A really cool and useful site! Go there!

Wednesday, November 14, 2007, 12:45pm: I finished reading Needled to Death this morning. ::sigh:: So far, I have not been that pleased with this series of cozy murder mysteries. If they are predictable for me, then they are waaaay too predictable. I usually can't see things coming in mysteries; but I could in both these books. And in both books, the denouements were just tedious. You knew how it was going to end, so why slog through it? But of course I did. IThe Golden Compass have another book in this series on the shelf, but it's going to wait a while.

I think I'm going to reread The Golden Compass (click the pic at right to see it larger) next, before the movie comes out on December 7th. I read it, it seems, back in 2000, plus the other two books in the His Dark Materials trilogy. Cat'r says they are promoting this as a children's movie--I can't see that at all! Teens-and-up is what I said then, and I still believe that. A lot of serious political and spiritual themes are in these books! Cat'r also suggests we wait to see the movie a couple weeks beyond the opening date, then hit an 11:30pm showing.

Wednesday, November 21, 2007, 12:24pm:  Colder weather coming! I just completed the shell-stitch hat that matches the neckwarmer I made last week. I still need to do the matching wrist warmers; but first I am going to make a furry-looking hat to go with the storm coat/khaki side of my faux fur coat (it's reversible--the other side looks like a real fur coat--gorgeous!). It's this pattern, on the Lion Brand site (if you can't get there, go to Lion Brand, then search for Copper Tam). I am going to use Chocolate Fun Fur instead of Copper.

Tuesday, November 27, 2007, 5:17pm: This is a hat I started last Wednesday afternoon but didn't complete. I let it sit until today. It became apparent that even though I had gone down one hook size, it was still going to fit a human-size Hello Kitty. :-P  So this afternoon I totally frogged it and started over with an even smaller hook. Here is my Chocolate Tam (not a Tamagotchi!).
