Part 88

Friday, August 1, 2008, 12:15pm: Today is Lammas Day aka Lughnassad, the First Harvest. Let those of us who have enough food be thankful for the bounties of Mother Earth and Father Sky. Let us do what we can to help those who have little or no food. May you have a blessed day!

Blessed Lammas

2:22pm: Changes! I am going to gradually work on my entire website and redo things to work better with 1024 x 768 resolution. I personally run at 1024 x 768, but I've been designing everything for 800 x 600, so that people would not have the evil scrolling side-to-side. It turns out that most folks run at 1024 x 768 or higher. I don't want to make things hard for you; but I am tired of my pages looking so "skinny".

I have only changed a couple pages so far. I am also going to be changing font sizes in many places too (this is as much for my own convenience as anyone else's! LOL!).

Anyway, all these changes will TAKE a while. Please bear with me.

Thursday, August 7, 2008, 5:33am: I've been spending a lot of time at Build-A-Bearville the last few days! So I thought I'd better update my BABW pages! I forgot to put up Einstein's picture and birth certificate in March, when he first came home. Here he is!

Tuesday, August 12, 2008, 10:26am: Fiddled with the Diary Index page a little bit, to make it a bit better for 1024 x 768 resolution.

I finished reading Darwinia yesterday. It was a darker novel than I thought it would be, with a lot of good vs. evil (and not that clear-cut), plus a bit more ick-factor than mice usually like. But on the whole, a book worth reading. But I decided after that I needed a lighter book. I just started reading Undead and Unwed by Mary Janice Davidson this morning, and I can hardly put it down! It has the kind of quirky sense of humour (but a bit brighter) that the wonderful TV series "Dead Like Me" had. LOVE it!

P.S. You should probably be following me in CountryMouse's Refuge, so you can see what stupid misadventures I've been having.     I can't believe I was diagnosed with gout...I am *not* Henry VIII!

Friday, August 15, 2008, 7:36pm: I finished Undead and Unwed and just started the next book in the series, Undead and Unemployed. Very fun, sexy, smart vamp novels.

Okay, so the gout is gone. Thank goodness! But now my knee is messed up. Yowee, hurts to walk, etc. It's not gout. The doc says I need to rest it and up my vitamin intake.

Thursday, August 21, 2008, 4:15am: I finished Undead and Unemployed a couple days ago. Great fun! BUT. I need a break. I don't want to gorge myself on this series and get sick of it. So now I am reading/re-reading The Book of Stillmeadow by Gladys Taber. It's part of a wonderful true-life series about moving from New York City and renovating an old farmhouse in the country and living off the land, starting in the 1930's and onward. Very gently funny and peaceful books.

Knee is better. Humongous bruise is starting to fade a bit!

Thursday, August 28, 2008, 4:48pm: To see my comments on the Democratic National Convention, go to CountryMouse's Refuge, starting with this entry. Exciting!

I started up a new virtual pet today--SHOCK! heh. It's a Digi Daemon, from the book and movie "The Golden Compass". Just a few minutes ago Pieek beeped and asked what I was doing. I said I was at home. He wanted to know if I wanted to play a game, but I said no. He wasn't too happy about that. But his happy hearts didn't go down, thank goodness!

Friday, August 29, 2008, 6:41am: More about Pieek, my Digi Daemon: apparently he will be changing like a child's daemon does. Yesterday late afternoon, for a short while, he was a fox (or squirrel??). Then within about a half hour he became what looks like a snow leopard, although he might be a tiger. He asked me again if I wanted to play a game; and this time I said yes, as I had had a chance to try all eight (!) games. HE chose the game! It was the Ice Bridges game, which is fairly platform-y. I didn't do great, but I didn't totally bomb out.
