Sunday, July 6, 2008, 5:43pm: Just got another Lamy Safari fountain pen, one that came out as a Limited Edition when I was not paying as much attention to fountain pens a couple years ago. I was able to get this from eBay at a good price:

Lamy Safari in Blue with Red Clip (medium nib)

Thursday, July 10, 2008, 7:31am: My pens arrived yesterday--all three of them! Here is more about what inks I put in them and what I think of them.

I finished reading Cranford. It was ultimately a nice, pleasant book. I probably missed some of the finer points, owing to not having a complete version of the book. Towards the middle of the book it was a bit dry, and I got bogged down. But then events started picking up again and all came to a satisfactory conclusion. I hope to get the BBC's 2007 dramatization of it on DVD sometime, to see how they fared with it. I think it was slow-going for me because the language seemed somewhat stilted to me. It was originally published in 1851.

I just started reading Angels All Over Town by Luanne Rice. This is one of Bunnicula's books. On the first page we have a supernatural element to this book. But from the blurb on the back, I see that at its core, it's about family.

Saturday, July 19, 2008, 11:38am: I may be a little slow in talking about this, but you do have until midnight Sunday, July 20th to see this free (then it will be available for a small fee--you can buy it now at iTunes for $1.99 an episode--and there are just three episodes). This is TV, rated PG. It's from Joss Whedon ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and much more); and it has Nathan Fillion ("Firefly", "Serenity", ETC.!) in it--singing! Click the pic to go and watch!

Saturday, July 26, 2008, 11:02am: I finished reading Angels All Over Town yesterday. It does have a supernatural element to it, but as a sort of backdrop, something that is in the background, that hovers lightly in your mind. But the book is mostly about family, relationships, career choices, and life in general. It had a very satisfying ending.

I started reading a book Cat'r highly recommended called Darwinia by Robert Charles Wilson. It's an earlier book by the author of Spin, which I liked very much.

Wednesday, July 30, 2008, 11:04am: I got the newest (to me anyway--I don't know when they were first introduced) Gelly Roll pens by Sakura. I've added new photos to my Gelly Roll page. They are at the bottom--they are Silver Shadow, Gold Shadow, Clear Stardust, and Shades. It looks like Sakura no longer makes the Pastel, Fluorescent, or Lightning gel pens. However, I think the Silver Shadow pens are in reality the Lightning pens, redone. Also the Dawn Moonlight colours are probably (for the most part) the Fluorescent colours redone, but with a medium roller (the original Fluorescent pens have a fine rollerball). Blurb for the Moonlight pens says: "Fluorescent colors that glow under a black light source."
