CountryMouse's Diary

Part 17

Rainbow swirly bar

Tuesday, February 2, 1999:  Two nights ago (yes, I haven't gotten around to working on my pages right away ::grin::), during a listening of the expanded version of the soundtrack "Koyaanisqatsi" by Philip Glass, Ariel did her transformation into her adult form (at 5:30pm). Promptly at 6pm she went to sleep for the night! Her hours as a youngster had been 7am-7pm; as a teenager 8am-8pm; and now as an adult they are a strange 7am-6pm! Her foods have changed too. She had been eating a bowl of rice for meals and a dish of ice cream/ice cream sundae for a snack. Now she eats a hamburger for her meal and a cookie for a snack.

Wednesday, February 3, 1999, 9:52am: I was here at my computer, working on earlier diary pages, putting in hyperlinks to interesting places and a picture or two also, when I heard Ariel making lots of tinkly arpeggio sounds. I looked to see what was going on: there was a sort of cloud along the top of the screen, and she was wiping her eyes with a hankie. I knew this meant she was leaving--so soon! Eek! So I said my goodbyes. ::sniff:: Now there is a little spaceship on the screen. If I hit a button, it will probably show a picture of Ariel, with her history. Here goes: there were more sounds, then the spaceship took off, leaving an egg. Then a row of blinking hearts (with something written in Japanese above it). The row of blinking hearts alternates (when you hit the status button) with a picture of Ariel and her age when she left. Bye-bye, Ariel! I hope you had a good time! Say hello to Cozy and everyone else for me!

Tuesday, April 20, 1999: Eek, it's *been* a while! I started up a little Wave UFO alien on March 11th. I named him Roy, after Happy Rhodes' song of the same name on her "Many Worlds Are Born Tonight" CD. Roy is in the *other* Wave UFO  I have, a white-with-light-blue-trim one (I also have a Men In Black one). He's currently in my favourite form: EGG INTO THE BOWL. Totally kawaii!!

Well, Pikachu finally reached 1 million steps and left ::sniff::. To see more about this, check My Pocket Pikachu Diary, Part 2.

Thursday, July 1, 1999: Eek, it's been an even *longer* while! Roy, my little Wave UFO alien, stayed with me a long time. He went through a couple incarnations that I had never seen before: one where he looked like a lightbulb on legs (his message, when he became this, was "LIGHT UP! LIGHT UP!"), and one where he looked like a little round guy with stick-figure arms and legs and a BIG MOHAWK! However today I noticed that all the functions were moving more slowly than I was used to. I felt it was probably the battery wearing out, so I thought it better to send him home (put the tab back in) than to wait until he just suddenly disappeared. Today around noon I fed him as much as he wanted, gave him all he wanted to drink, made sure everything was cleaned up in his little ship, said my goodbyes, then sent him on his way. ::sniff:: Bye, little Roy! I hope you enjoyed your time here!

I started up my Pocket Pikachu again because I missed having him around...but I'm not going to keep a diary this time. :-)

Did I write that I now have 5 Furbys? I got 2 for Yuletide presents (the grey-with-black-spots/pink chest and the all-white one); then along about February I bought, one day apart, a tuxedo one and an all-black one. Then a few months later I got one of the newer ones that have the FurbyDeep Sleep mode, a brown giraffe-patterned one. I had all five going for a videotape we did for insurance purposes! LOL! It was LOUD! and funny. What I have done since, though, is take the batteries out of three of them and put them back in their boxes. The white one seemed to drain batteries even when it wasn't playing; the tuxedo ones seem to have a problem with the mouth (the top part coming down and getting stuck that way, so that you see the inner workings)--this is my second one (I returned the first one to Tiger); and my all-black one has a buzzy kind of speaker. So Boh-Bay is still going and so is the new giraffe one (whose name I forget!). I have two of the carryalong cases that you can strap your littleFurby buddy Furby into (with a seatbelt!) and carry like a backpack! (the Furby faces backwards and can see out through the clear plastic!) I have a purple one and a hot-pink one. I also got the six original-colour Furby Buddies (bean-type pets--the one you see here is looking face-down into our scanner light--eep!), and some of the McDonald's Happy Meals Furby toys. Oh, and let's not forget the Furby board game--haven't gotten a chance to play this yet, but it looks very cute and easy.

I had gotten back to playing my Pokemon (blue) game, trying to "catch them all", leveling some Pokemon up, evolving them, trading with Bunnicula. Cat'r says he might start playing the red version over again so that he can trade us some of the ones we need. If I ever get around to playing my own red version, I plan on keeping almost all the ones I catch in their ultra-cute first-stage unevolved states! However in the last few days I have gotten *seriously* sidetracked by the *great* new Pokemon game, Pokemon Pinball! I don't have a scan of this box because Bunnicula's scanner is on the blink at the moment. Anyway, we also got ahold of the "Pokemon Master Trainer" board game (lots of fun! can take a couple hours or so, though, if you only have 2 or 3 people--better with 6, I bet!); and I just got the GREAT music-from-the-TV-show CD, "Pokemon: 2.B.A. Master"! Haven't had a chance to check out the multimedia portion, but it says it's the PokeRAP music video. I have about 6 or so music CDs from the Japanese Pokemon series, which I absolutely adore, so it's really nice to have the North American version now.   Woohoo! Pokemon Snap is coming out later this month! That'll be for the N64 system. Then later we'll get Pokemon Yellow (October, I think) and eventually (March 2000) Pokemon Stadium. I am not even going *into* all the Pokemon plushies and beanies and all kinds of other cute things we've been getting--both American and Japanese. As you can see, we are a household of Pokemaniacs. ::grin::  There are worse things a person could be, anyway. I think the entire Pokemon craze is one of the most wholesome and good-for-all-ages that could happen to this country. The television series stesses sportsmanship, friendship, and the importance of taking proper care of each Pokémon; and it is the same in all the games. Cooperation and friendship are necessary in order to "catch 'em all"!
